Hmm Machine Rotors
Car was stored for awhile (Don't know how long exactly) and the rotors warped. OEM Pads and Rotors 80% life...The warped rotors are causing a pulsating brake sensation! So options are to get New Rotors all around or Machine existing rotors. BMW dealership said they don't machine rotors but my trusted mechanic said he could do it and all should be well, (no more pulsating brakes)
Anyone have any feedback on this, Thanks in advance Cheers |

Yes, you can machine the rotors.
Take them to anyone that resurfaces rotors and they will gladly do it for you. In my experience, it costs about 15 per rotor. The dealer will not do it for you because they want to sell you new parts at their over inflated costs. Quote:
Why change the oil? Just buy a new engine. It's a BMW...Don't be cheap! ![]() 1k for OEM pads and rotors? That's ridiculous! Cheap or smart. I consider myself smart.

The original BMW rotors were notorious for warping(At least they were on my car). I went through 3 sets of them in 40k miles. Every set was replaced under the maintenance warranty.
Unless you're getting the rotors for free, skip the BMW originals and get some decent aftermarket rotors and pads.

Exactly. It's not being cheap, it's making wise buying decisions. Paying 1k for OEM pads and rotors is borderline idiotic.

You have probably accumulated some surface rust on the rotors from the car sitting. If you still have plenty of life left in the pads, I would drive it for a while (150-200 miles) and see if the problem goes away. The surface rust can and does create and uneven surface on the rotor and will give you a pulsating pedal. You can also resurface rotors on a lathe and whoever states you can not and the other stupid statement that it's a BMW, is just talking out their ass. There is absolutely nothing wrong with resurfacing a rotor on a proper brake lathe as long as the rotor falls within spec after the resurface it will be fine. But again, honestly I would drive it for awhile. Advice on message boards can be helpful and save you money unless that advice comes from someone who really believes that because it's a BMW you need to buy brand new OEM parts whenever something needs to be replaced or fixed. Dealers love the folks who buy into that bullshit.
