Front Aero Lip Question

Ok, so here is the deal. I ordered the front aero lip for my e92. It came in the other day and is currently at the paint shop. I am expecting it to be ready for install some time next week. My problem is this. I am not 100% comfortable just using the adhesive for this install.

Am I being paranoid? Are there other ways that this can be installed, perhaps bolting it on? I have all the faith in the world with the shop at the dealership and I know that they know what they are doing. It just seems that the adhesive is not the safest or most secure way to do this.

Your input would be appreciated.

The adhesive works fine.. Have them add a few screws for piece of mind. We haven't had any problems with any so far..

As I understand it, it just put on there by the adhesive that has to be ordered at the same time as the part is. The existing screws are not touched.

It uses both. Glue on the front and screws on the bottom.

Well, I bought the OEM lip, and they are always unpainted.

All in all, for the part, paint and installation, you are looking at about $500.

i just used the bolts underneath, and then bought some 3M double sided autobody tape from Walmart for $3 to tape up the middle section of the lip, and it works great~!

Where exactly does the adhesive go? Would it be possible to ever remove the lip with the adhesive and not mess up the original paint of the bumper?

Relax.

The kit isn't made half-assed. Between the screws/bolts underneath and the very strong 3M double-sided tape, he should be fine.

Oh okay. I thought there was an option to have it prepainted. Seems a lot more convenient.

I used exterior double sided tape on mine. It will not come off. You *can* use the adhesive, which will likely *never* come off (Betalink is some seriously strong stuff). Either way the lip *BOLTS ON* using 5 hex nuts underneath the bumper, so even if all the glue/tape fails it will still not come off.

The problem with betalink is it is literally almost impossible to get that crap off once it's cured. I want the ability to remove the lip at a later date if I need to repaint or something. The double sided tape is very difficult to remove *unless* you heat it up, which I will do if I need to remove it. And again, you still need to unfasten all 5 bolts to get it off.

Guys i live in Turkey and want to order this front lip but over here they sell the lip with the whole kit painted and fitted and it is way too expensive plus i i only like the front lip. So I was wondering if you guys know anywhere i can find the lip on its own online or not so i can have them courier it to me.

Thanks in Advance

Thanks for making yourself look stupid.

3M Automotive doublesided tape is the way to go. Using Betalink is overkill since the bumper is already attatched by screws on the bottom of the original bumper (which can hold the whole kit alone without any help).
