need a black GTR corrected???

Had a little fun the other day (sarcasm implied). Of all the rumors I have heard about the infamous GTR black paint, I never really believed it until I got my hands on one. I have done different color GTRs, but never a black one. Let me tell you, its got to be one of the best and worst paints out there...super hard to finish down, yet corrects rather easily! Weird, I know!
At first glance, I could tell from the start it was going to be a long day even though the owner didnt think it would be as bad as his supra i did for him a couple years ago...definitely wrong on that one! This car took me 12 hours to get it to its current condition. I could have easily spent more time on it, but it was a HUGE turn around.

Sun shots? Seems that some folks don't like to show those even when the sun is clearly available... weird.

As always, nice work giving that lady a make-over Eric. Bet the owner is happy!

oh yeah, forgot to mention, those shots are only after 85rd. no wax has been used at this point, and I finished the car after it was already dark. Let me tell you, working outside in the dark sucks! LOL not to mention a garage with about 2 feet on the side to maneuver around. I would have had to keep moving the car around to get high quality sun shots and waste another 20 minutes. There was no time for it. Owner had plans and I was already over my time limit

HAHAHA, i ran it through a drive through touchless place. I finally had some time the other day to clean up my car. Took EVERYTHING out, very thorough vacuum, washed with a healthy dose of wash and clear, then dressed everything and applied optimum spray wax. I like that stuff all over again! I think Ill just do that monthly from now on..dedicate some time to it!

i did 2 black GTRs and i hate them , even if got great results on both.
you have to polish with slow passes to ensure the polish is brake down and no halo left behind..
i never been more frustrated than when i try 7 different polish and pad and da/rotary combination in 2 hours on a test spot to find the finish step.

hahaha, yep, took me over an hour to find the right combo! ended up three stepping it. the door and the hood were my test sections! was my attitude the whole hour!!!! LOL. I talked to another detailer about it and the general consensus is we would both rather do a jet black BMW than a GTR in black!

There is a 50/50 in the mix for "in-between" shots, thats how the whole car came out, not just that one section ...but when you are on a time crunch and billing by the hour, there really isnt much room for picture taking of the whole process along the way. I have a lambo gallardo that will have about 80 pics of all the processes I used on it coming up...you will like that one!
