Recommended Tire Pressure for AutoX

What would be the recommended tire pressure for AutoX events? I have stock type 162s with Pirelli PZero Nero tire (I know: not the greatest) and I am running them at stock tire pressure for the street.

Does one add X amounts of psi to each tire, or does one set them at a specific pressure?

Go to a hardware supply store, get some chalk and mark some lines across the sidewalk and tread surface. Inspect the lines and see where they were scrubbed off. If the scrub stops right at the edge where the tread pattern stops and the sidewalk begins, you've got the right pressure. If the scrub goes past the tread edge onto part of the sidewalk, you're under-inflated. If the scrub doesn't come near the edge of the tread pattern, you're over-inflates. Add or subtract air accordingly. Your results WILL vary.

Start at 40 psi cold.

Thank you Sir! I have some chalk at home already. My next AutoX event is this Sunday so I'll definitely use this tactic.

I normally ran them at 48psi front, 40-42psi rear. This was with the Dunlop Direzza StarSpec tires in 235/40 and 255/35 sizes.

Wow. Interesting...

I ran with 40-42 all around last Sunday, but that is on Pirelli PZero Nero AST. I know: the ASTs are hardly the best tire for AutoX.

Anything above 44psi on the front felt like the front was loosing grip too quickly...
