confused about AE

OK, guys help a noob out.
I have DAEOS on my pre lci E90; before the install, I checked the voltage to my AE and it puts out 6 VDC, after DAEO installed, 12 VDC. My OEM AE did get brighter from the voltage increase. My question is (Lux 5.1, MTECH AE) are they design to operate at 6 or 12 VDC? I want to keep my DAEO and from working with LED's before, they burn out quickly with increase in voltage.

LUX will operate at 12v. it will not work if the voltage is 6v

12 VDC for MTEC's bulbs/leds.
