Called the 1800# today and talked to a live person (thankfully their system appears to be functioning again), and she said my car was scheduled for production yesterday and it could be produced any day now.

This sounds very strange to me, as my CA told me my production week wasn't until week 19. She also told me that she won't know exactly which day it is scheduled to start production...until it is in production. Then she'll "have a real good idea" when my car will be produced. Right...

What gives?

It's funny when you know more about something than your CA does, but she's not aware of the situation and makes up stuff like this. They have to realize that it's easy to have access to information nowadays.
My car went into production 1 week before it was supposed to, and I remember reading in another thread that BMW is ahead of its scheduled production nowadays.

Here's what may have happened:
Your CA has a DAR in front of him with all available allocations (and production numbers) for any given model.

You come in and and want to order a car. If he has an allocation available for the particular model you are interested in, he'll be able to see what week it is scheduled for production. Let's say he tells you "Week 19". Now these vehicle that are unsold and marked for inventory may be in Priority 3 or 4. If they are not sold prior to production, they will be produced during the week they were originally scheduled for.

You come to terms with the CA and order the car. The car is modified to your specs and then marked as "Customer Sold-Priority 1". Once this happens, the car can (and usually does) move up in the production schedule. This can be anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks.
If your CA originally told you Week 19 and all of the sudden it's Week 18, now you know why.
