Hey guys... I checked the weather for today and there is a chance that tonight's Test and Tune night might be canceled due to high winds. http://www.wunderground.com/US/CA/Palmdale.html
They did the same thing last week.. call LACR or check out the website on the weekly schedule to see if they'll be open or not. |

I've invited several other people as well, not all with BMW's either. It might be tough for a few of them to make it as they are working and or live in like Anaheim so it would be bitch for them to get up there at a good time. So there may be 5-6 of us or 10-12 just depends. |

Just meet up with us at LACR. We're probably going to get there around 6-6:30. It's a bit warmer then but pretty empty, so getting in a few early runs is easy. |

It was a fun night.
But damn, theres NO grip there......NONE> I was stoked to have pulled a 13.6 at 103.8 in my car. Just exhaust, is the only performance mod. I think the fastest time was 13.4 at 107, by Driver72s Proceded car. But, he can post the exact ET/Trap speed...... As always, the ATs ruled the roost...... Was a fun night, for LACR anyway. kj |

I couldn't make it tonight because my dad decided not to wait for me from work
His best was a 13.8 @ 100mph...bone stock w/ a steptronic. Your times are great with just an exhaust! BTW, which exhaust do you have? |

Yes, it was fun burning some rubber, because that's pretty much all you can do at "The Rink" as in Ice rink.
I've been to LACR a lot, traction is always an issue there, but I don't think I remember it being so bad as last night. Maybe it's just the 435 lbs-ft of torque coming from my engine. LOL Jon, yes I met your dad right away. He did great. I don't remember his exact time, but he was in the 13.8's @ 101+ mph ( I think he had one or two runs with trap speeds over 101 mph) And yes, he is BONE stock with only 750 miles on the car. That is a job WELL done at LACR on a non broken in stock car with stock run flats, stock suspension and all! Another guy there with a new Coupe and 6MT only had 450 miles on his car. He was coming from an EVO. I told him to launch lightly. So what does he do, launches at 4500 rpms on his first run and only gets a 14.7 I think his best time was a 14.1, he could of done better I know, but he just couldn't get used to NOT having traction. His car was totally stock too. As Kujo said, I had the best time again with the 13.4 but that was with a 2.25 60' foot time, and starting in second gear. I think the best 60' time was my 2.109. I only have a PROcede and 265 General tires on heavy 19" wheels. No lowering springs/suspension or anything else. For LACR, my times were okay. At that track, the less powerful the car the better (closer to what you should really be getting) as you don't have to worry so much about traction and won't break the tires loose as easily. It's 2700 feet in elevation and no traction whatsoever. I would have to pedal the throttle all the way through second and part way into third before I could floor it!! But it's just not possible to get good traction at LACR, especially in a one legger and the PROcede, where the torque just breaks the tires loose so frickin easily! But even an E46 M3 that was there couldn't do any better on the launch, even with the LSD. Can't remember what his best time was, but I know it wasn't any better than the stock 335i's because he came and asked me how I was launching to get such a "good" time. I laughed and said, "I'm not getting "good" times, there's too much wheelspin, I'd be getting a 13.0 with traction even at 2700+ feet in elevation." There is no doubt, with just a PROcede and these General STREET tires this car is a 12.8 @ 109+ car at sea level and with traction. As for the auto vs manual run from a roll. Well, I think the wondering can end. My PROceded auto pulled on ADHD's PROceded manual from a 2nd gear 20-100 mph roll. And his car SHOULD of pulled on me being he was on almost pure 100 Octane, he's lowered, and had wheels that were 12 pounds PER WHEEL lighter than mine. We only got to run the one time though, so a bit more "testing" is in order. But with his lower rotational mass, better aerodynamics (lowered car), and 10 gallons race gas, he clearly should have pulled on me, not me pulling a bit on him! But again, it was all in fun, and in the name of science. LOL We had a blast. Kujo and I are old buds, so it was nice to meet a few new friends too. We'll have to do it again in the fall, it's going to be getting HOT up there really soon!! Later Last edited by Driver72; 05-13-2007 at 08:04 PM.. |

Ya driver is pretty much right but Im going to say this on the rolling run I personally fucked up,,U driver hit the horn the first time and i started to step on it and realized u were hitting it a cuople times so i let off then waited till u went then i took off cause i wasnt really familiar with what u were doing with the horn.
Ya your car pulled on me but im really thinking its cause of how i started kujo was right behind me so im sure he saw my car lung then see brake lights then take off again..lolol... and for the end of it i let off at 100 u guys keep going to 110 or someshit thats why kujo whipped out from behind me and got behind.... I have to say im impressed with the auto i toook a ride in both of kujo and drivers auto and damb driver did a 13.5 with me in the car the auto has no shift shock at all its really nice. BUT theres no way in hell u conviced me that its better! Ive got some thing to work out and well do this again. I just back from my tire shop and they laughed at me! Last night u both had brand new tires and 265's no less. I was on 2 year old dried out 235's with maybe 30% tread left.. they say the tires being dried out and as HARD as the compounds left in the tire theres no way in hell i would get traction anywhere!! So i took the guy in my car just know went behind the train tracks on thi little road and launched the car for him on normal asphalt and still NO fucking traction at all in first gear No matter what i do I could be rolling at 3k step on it and it stilll lights em up all over the place! This pissed me off no less with 2 of us in the car in the middle of a asphalt road WTF.. so i did it again going the other way didnt push the gas till i was rolling at 4k and still fucking broke loose like crazy all the way to the end of 2nd gear!! THESE TIRES SUCK DONKEY DICK! was the guy response!! lolol...so i drove the guy back to the shop and am now sitting here contemplating what to do?? I had fucking better traction with my CH''ss on hankook ventus Im soo furitated

ADHD, yeah I saw you jump after I honked the first time, then back off.
Then when I honked two more times I nailed it, you were along side me. What I was refering to is once we were rolling and going, I was creeping away from you a bit. You let off at 100 and then I let off. I think Kujo stayed in it a bit, I told him you let off, and it was apparent as you suddenly dropped back like 2 car lengths, and he came up on your arse then. I didn't want to incinuate the autos are "better" than the manuals. I've owned manuals all my life and have been racing since I was 16. This is the first auto car I've owned!! The point was to see if the auto was "faster" than the manual can be. I think we showed it is. With your lighter wheels, lowered car and 100 Octane you had in, you should of pulled on ME, I shouldn't have creeped away on you. The autos also have a more aggressive final drive ratio, that also clearly helps it overcome it's extra drivetrain loss. And when it comes to launching, it's clear the auto has an advantage. The manual in the 335i is just hard to launch. But for pure driving, manuals are always more entertaining. The paddle shifters while a nice "gimick" still doesn't replace the 3rd pedal and rowing the gears yourself. |

Oh ADHD, and yeah, you gotta get new tires.
Those little 235's are great for rolling acceleration, where the smaller tires will rotate more/faster and therefore give better acceleration ONCE rolling, but they suck for traction. Get yourself some 265's on there and you'll do better from a dig. The RGR's are just too light too! Again, that light weight is GREAT for reducing rotational mass and will greatly improve your acceleration once rolling for sure. BUT, these cars have too much torque (especially with the PROcede) to have wheels that light on. It just makes it easier for them to spin! And thanks for the props on the 13.5 run with you in the car. Took three runs though. As you know those first two I had to abort due to all the f-in wheel spin, and confusing the hell out of my car trying to pedal the throttle then flooring it when I thought I was going to have traction only to spin the tach PAST redline and threw that CEL (and that was going into 3rd gear)... LOL |
