BETA Firmware Update for BMW AccessPORT: 2011 335is Support and Datalogging Updates
A BETA firmware update for the BMW AccessPORT is now available from COBB Tuning. This release adds calibration and firmware support for the 2011 BMW 335is, expands the list of datalogging monitors from 19 to 68, and fixes the cruise control bug. This update also fixes the P2FA3 ECU code shown when an AccessPORT is installed. This latest firmware also enables the AccessPORT to read and clear historic DTC’s from the ECU. New Vehicle Support BETA AccessPORT support for the 2011 BMW 335is is now available for early adopters. Stage1 Calibrations for 93 and 91 octane fuels are available as well as Stage0 and valet modes. All 335is users can now install the AccessPORT simply by updating to this latest BETA firmware version. Note, this update only adds support for the 2011 335is and does NOT include any other 2011 model. New Monitors and Features COBB Tuning has added new monitors for datalogging and live data viewing to the AccessPORT, increasing the number of monitors from 19 to 68. This includes engine monitors like “Fuel Pressure,” “Injector Pulse Width,” individual “Cylinder Timing Correction Cyl 1-6,” and individual cylinder “Knock Voltage Cyl 1-6.” For a complete listing of current and new monitors, visit our BMW AccessPORT Data Monitor List. The AccessPORT also has the ability to read and clear “historic” trouble codes removing annoying check engine lights from the dash. These latest updates make the AccessPORT the most convenient and easy to use tuning solution with the most comprehensive data logging and diagnostic capabilities available. Calibration Updates All performance calibrations have been updated to v3.00 with this update. Tuning has not been altered; this revision only represents changes to firmware logic. Updating to these calibrations for current AccessPORT users will not affect performance. The v3.00 calibrations must be used to take advantage of these latest updates. Bug Fixes This BETA firmware update addresses two bugs with the BMW AccessPORT. Some vehicles have experience disabled cruise control upon installation of the AccessPORT. This firmware update resolves that issue by returning cruise control functionality to affected vehicles. This update also resolves issues with recurring DTC codes present upon AccessPORT installation on some vehicles, in particular the P2FA3 code. These new calibrations feature enhanced logic that no longer induce a DTC error condition upon installation. If you currently have DTCs present on your vehicle after installing an AccessPORT, reflash your vehicle with one of these new v3.00 calibrations. How To Update Firmware To update your AccessPORT to 1.6.5.0-2485 BETA firmware, simply open the AccessPORT Manager application, connect your AccessPORT to your computer via the supplied USB cable, navigate to the “Options” menu and then select “Check for BETA Firmware”. Then click on the “Updates” menu icon and follow the on-screen prompts. These new features will be installed automatically. If you do not have AccessPORT Manager, you can find the download link for your free copy on our Support Page. To complete the update, flash one of the new v3.00 calibrations to your ECU. Using older maps with this update may cause poor performance or unexpected issues. These newest calibrations will be automatically installed to your AccessPORT during the BETA firmware update. For more detailed information on maps and revisions, please consult the Firmware Release Notes or call COBB Tuning at 1-866-922-3059. |

Just a suggestion/request... While viewing Live data, can you make it so that when you want to switch between viewing different live data values and you hit the back button, instead of kicking you out to the first level menu it brings you back to the menu with all the live data values. It'll save time and button presses in viewing different data values. Its a small request but would make a big difference in viewing data on the fly while driving. I'm sure other Cobb users would also appreciate this change. Thanks! Last edited by EastCoast335i; 08-11-2011 at 02:36 PM.. |

Hmmm,
I just saw that the calibrations page for my ECU shows that the map versions are 2.03. Quote:
Finally, do we need to uninstall/install COBB from the car?

Make sure you update the firmware so that it shows Maps v3.00, then just connect the Cobb to your car, turn on without ignition of course, select tune, select the map you want and it'll automatically update.
Just finished my update, 6-7mins to update the tune/map to the car. |

+1, I was wondering the same exact thing. Thinking about holding off upgrading until after Sunday's AutoX event if the alternate throttle maps are not available.
