Car Over Heating And Smell Of Oil
Hello everyone,
I'm new to BMW and i just recently brought 1. Firstly after I drove for a while i smelt burning oil so i popped the hood and there was a lot of smell coming from there and there was a small puddle of oil next to oil filter . Took it the car the mechanic and he said he cant see no leak the smell most probably is excess oil that fell and is burning from the heat of the engine and adviced me to jet wash the excess oil off. So i did that and the smell has reduced but still there. But I just noticed that there is a lot of heat coming from the car as well. I dont know if it was always like this but i just noticed it. Could someone please help and advice me what to do thanks |

Often if you 'miss' the filler cap, it will puddle under that big black engine cover.
It then runs down onto the manifold. Remove the cover and take another look. Steve
