Well, you have a few options. I would start with the least expensive option, and work your way up from there. Assuming that you now have the JB properly installed, here's what I would do:

1. Give it a little time. By that I mean drive your car for a day or so, and after several start/stop cycles, the ses light should go off. I've had almost the same issue as you, and after everything was installed correctly, my car realized everything was good after a few cycles.

2. If the ses light is still on in a few days, find someone who's got a BT cable or similar and ask to have the light cleared. I don't think the autozone boys can clear it for you, but I may be wrong.

3. Buy a BT cable or similar and do it yourself. It'll cost you a little bit for the initial cable purchase, but now you will have the capability to read any future faults, test multiple systems, and reset all of your service counters if you do your own maint.

Although mine cleared within 5 mins of driving, I purchased the BT cable in a combo deal with the JB4. I can't tell you how many times over that thing has paid for itself. If you plan on further modding your car, and/or doing your own service, that thing is a must in my book. Otherwise, everytime you have any kind of service due, BMW is gonna have to clear it for you. Go through the list of services required through the stalk on your car, and you will see how many there are. Quite a few I can tell you!! Ultimately, it's up to you wether you want to put the money up now, or little by little everytime you need a code/service cleared or reset. Just my .02. :0)

There you go!! You got your answer before I could tell you where to buy the BT cable. If I were to do it again, and the can tool was available when I bought my BT, I would have went with the CAN tool. The BT tool is almost $300, and the CAN tool does the same thing, right? I've never studied up on the differences between the two (if there are any), but $79 is a much better deal. @Mike - does the CAN tool have the ability to code? I really wish I had that ability. If you have a second, can you give a quick list of differences between the 2 tools? That would be great info for the OP, and I'd really like to know also!! Thanks!!

The CAN Tool is an inexpensive way to read/delete DME codes. It doesn't give freeze frame data or read other modules like the BT does. It also doesn't require or use a laptop. You just plug it in to the OBDII port and the codes appear on the dash.
