Good bay area tint shop?
Hello there, I trust you're all doing well.
Do any of you Bay Area residents know of a good tint shop? I am looking to get my e90 328i tinted, but nothing too extravagant. And hopefully not trying to pay an arm and a leg On a related note, what tint range looks good with the Sapphire Black? I appreciate all your input. Thanks for taking the time to reply! (this is a repost from another section, I also posted in Detailing, I wasnt sure which was appropriate. Thanks!) Edit: I should say, I need a place thats open on saturdays and/or sundays... Make an appointment with Vince at Omegawerks. He's in pleasanton and i've taken my cars to him a handful of times for tint or clearbra work.

Ceramic is the type of film. There's metallic film and carbon film as well. Supposedly the metallic film will interfere with your radio or comfort access system which is why it is not recommended on our cars. Metallic film is the cheapest. Ceramic is more expensive...3-400 but it won't interfere with the signals. Most of the guys on this forum go with ceramic I think. If you just want tint for looks and don't care about the signal interference, the cheapest route will be metallic. Quote:
Or try calling speed element in fremont. They have a mobile tint guy that does pretty good work at a great price. My gf got her c63 tinted from that guy and it came out pretty good. ceramic tint. |

Don't know why people would pay $400 for tint..
Best Image in San Mateo. Paid $140 OTD for all windows tinted on E90 minus the windshield. They use 3M tint also. Brought over 3 of my own cars in the past without problem. Referred 10 others, all were satisfied... |

Personally I'm getting Formula One Pinnacle tint from an approved Formula One dealer. It's more than $200 but less than $400. I don't feel like skimping on tint since it's a $100-$200 difference on my $50K+ car. As M_Truong said, To each, their own. |

I don't see any point dropping $350-$500 for Pinnacle tint. (Got a quote for tint at Premier for 450) Unless you really need the minor heat savings. Still doesn't worth the 2-3x price tag though. Especially since anyone can easily get a tint ticket for tinting the front windows.. Who care if it is a authorized dealer or not? It's not like a laptop that has mechanical problems. It is just a piece of film. Regardless, Best Image still offers lifetime warranty. I don't understand why you guys like to get ripped off by tint shops.. Edit: Doesn't look like Premier customers are too happy.. 3.5 stars on yelp compared to 4.5 stars for Best Image. http://www.yelp.com/biz/premier-prot...tional-fremont |

Don't know about Premier but Rocky Mountain (and OmegaWorks for that matter) have 5 star Yelp ratings, while Best Image apparently only has 4 1/2 stars. The reason to buy from an authorized dealer is so that your warranty works at ANY authorized dealer. Makes a bit of a difference with a lifetime warranty if you move around or a shop goes out of business. |

I got tint on my car for 4 year and it still looks fine. My previous car had tint for 7 years and it still looked like new when I sold it. (Both 3M tint) Even if the shop went out of business. I can still afford replacing it 3x before it reaches the price range of Pinacle tint.. |

I got my '11 mini Cooper done at best image. Got a good deal on a clear bra and a great deal on tint. The bra was pre-cut, wish I got the full hood version as I hate seeing the line across the hood but no probs with the tint. They even gave me a ride home so I didn't have to wait at the shop.
