They are great tyres. They have excellent grip and the IMO the performace is outstanding. They have relatively comfortable ride compared to other performance tires. I think the sidewalls won't be as rigid as Michelin PS2 or PSS. I assume you are buying summer tires, not all seasons.

The main complaint you might have is the wear rate, but if you can get them for a good price they are decent value.

That is a killer deal - jump on it!

I have a set and really like them. In my opinion, they're definitely in a class above the Hankooks. My wife's car (formerly my car) is a modified TSX with Hankook V12s. The Hankooks are a good value for the money and they are decent, but the Goodyears are definitely better...and we had 2 sets of Goodyear GS D3s on the car before the Hankooks. (The F1 Asymetric is essentially a newer, improved version of the GS D3.)

My car currently is running the same size Asymetrics as what you are looking at, and I spent about $1000 out the door, and that was with America's Tire/Discount Tire America matching their mail order price. Your $825 is a fantastic price!!!

When I start looking for my next set of tires, about the only ones worth considering, in my opinion, will be the new Michelin Super Sports, Continental DW, or possibly another set of Asymetrics...depending on price/value/etc. Good luck!

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I've had the hankooks for about a year and I've been very impressed with them, not too soft, or hard, pretty quiet. It's just a bummer my alignment was fucked up so the rears wore out way faster than the fronts, I still had like 7/32 left on the fronts while the rears were worn down to the wearbars.

Someone recommended falken 452's and I've been doing some research, people have been complaining that they are too loud?? Price is right up there with the hankooks. If I got either the hankooks or the falkens, I would probably be paying around mid $700's to low $800 out the door after getting them priced match at discount tire.

My only worry is that the eagle f1 asymmetrics are discontinued.. What do you guys think will have better treadwear? As much as I want a great performance tire, I need something that is suitable in wet conditions as well.

I've been very impressed with the F1 Assymetric in wet conditions. It's almost as though the road isn't wet at all.

The Asymetrics are excellent in the rain.

Regarding the treadwear, I cannot speak directly about the Asymetrics because I only have 6K miles on them so far. However, their predecessor, the GS D3s, gave me almost 30K for both sets I had on the TSX - and I drove them extremely hard.

The Asymetrics are a fabulous tire...quiet, great dry traction, excellent in the wet, and from what I've read, I'm expecting to get good treadwear from them my E92. After having had both the Hankooks V12s and the Asymetrics, I personally think you'd have to be nuts to choose the Hankooks over the Asymetrics, especially at $825 out the door for them.

Tread wear is important to me. Also, it can't be too thick.. my rear wheels are 265 35 18, 18x19+22.

GO FOR IT!!!

I can speak from experience as I had them for over 25K miles on my car. That included 9 track days also.

These are incredible tires. Dry and wet grip is outstanding. They heat up quickly and give you excellent feedback. I ran 245/35-18 up front and 265/35-18 in the rear.

On the track they performed very well and held up nicely throughout the session.

Street driving they do not tramline at all and are pretty quiet. I had very even wear both front and back (perfectly flat across all four tires). I of course hit my share of potholes and bumps living in PA and never had an issue.

If the Michelin PSS wouldn't have come out, I would have DEFINITELY bought these again.

Comparing them to the PSS is perfectly viable (I've driven about 1,500 miles on them in all conditions). I don't see that much of a difference to be perfectly honest. I did upsize to a 255/35-18 up front and stuck with the 265/35-18 rears. Grip is very similar, but the Michelin's need a little more time to heat up. Cold, they do not grip as well as the GY, but hot they are very similar. In the wet, both tires are very good, again, I don't feel that much of a difference. On the track (I only ran the PSS one day as I switched to R-comps the other two days), they were very predictable and felt great. Yet again, not too much of a difference. I don't think there is a huge difference in sidewall stiffness between the two tires. The Michelin may be a little stiffer, but it could also be that I upsized the fronts to help compensate with that.

In the end, you're getting a stellar deal and I would NOT hesitate to get the GY Asymmetrics. Just upsize to 245/35 fronts if you can. It'll help with understeer and balance the car a bit better.

If I go with 245's in the front, that'll bump the price up a couple hundred dollars.

245s are pretty wide on the front especially with the Goodyear F1 Assy. They can contact the gaurd on the E92 at full lock in some situations depending on the wheel offset. Camber plates are another option to reduce understeer if thats a priority for the OP.

Will the 235's cause a lot of understeer? I would think that they would be better than the stock 225?

It's not that 235 will cause understeer, you're car is set-up already to understeer to be "safe" and you upsized the rear tires so you have more grip in the rear.

If 245 up front are going to cost a couple hundred more, then just go with the 235. I would imagine it should handle similar to stock.

In the end, these tires are SO worth it.

Alright, I'm going to go for it... $825 is a killer deal, even if I got falkens or hankooks, I would be looking around the same price. Now the only question is will the 18x9.5 +22 and beefy 265 gy f1's fit without issues fender rolling is probably a must.

I thought the Hankooks were pretty competitive, myself. I have the following setup:

Front: 235/40/18
Rear: 265/35/18

I bought them for this price:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Got a $60 rebate, so they were actually under $6 bucks, but the shipping used up some of that rebate. Paid a tad over $721 total for tires, shipping and tire mount/balance through Merchant Tire.

I have 219M wheels and they are either et 29 or et 23, but the tires have a pretty square shoulder as opposed to Conti DWs, so there is some rubbing over large dips, but very minimal with no rolling needed.

I thought of the Asymmetrics, as well, but in the end opted for the Hankooks.

G/L with your decision.

the price you are getting must be clearing out of the remaining Asymmetric as the Asymmetric 2 has already came out in Europe early this year but there is a delay for the Asymmetric 2 for NA since late June.

I had the Asymmetric a few years back on my E60 535 and they were okay but nowhere as good as the GS-D3, in particular under wet condition gripping.
