It's official!! ED date- May 25th

It's been confirmed. Im going to Munich to pick up my 335i (black on black) on May 25th. I want to ask for advice and tips from you guys as to where I should go, what I should see, etc.

The plan:
Leaving SF on the 23rd and arrive in Munich on the 24th
Pick up the car early morning on Friday the 25th.
Do paper work at Harms the same day so I can drop it off on Monday (holiday) the 28th and then fly back to SF.

So basically I have Thursday night, Friday-Sunday to do some sight seeing.

I plan to go to Dachau and also visit some castles. Since I've already booked the hotel in Munich for all 4 nights, I was wondering if driving to nearby countries is possible. Im hoping to drive to Switzerland or Austria and then back the same day.

My goal is to do a decent amount of driving and also some sight seeing. Please advice. TIA

Nice. I picked an almost identical car 1 year ago. Pity you can't stay longer and exploit the real benefit of ED - 2 week insurance and registration. Austria and even Northern Italy are within your reach. The Viamichelin site is great for estimating distances.

http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichel...MaHomePage.htm

Also - if you have Nav, it will allow you to exploit Europe much more without getting lost all the time. It can get quite confusing, trying to understand the road signs and read a map at the same time. Nav makes it easier. If you have NAV rent a DVD from the guy over at bimmerfest.com.

Congrats!! You'll have a great time.

ED is Awesome! Have fun! I took a picture of my car over by Neuschwanstein. Pretty awesome pic is I do say so myself. We also went to Dachu. I haven't put my pics up yet but once I do I'll send you a link.
Have a fantastic time! Then the waiting begins... Expect a gruling 8 weeks.

Congrats!!
I'll be picking up my ED 335i on the 23rd!!

If I had any experience, I'd be able to help you, but I'm a relative ED Noob
I'll be hitting up the Salzburg/Berchtesgaden area for a couple days. Then over to Geneva, to meet up with some family friends, then it's off to Paris, where we drop off and fly home from after about 3 days there. We were thinking of popping over to Milan or the outlets in Mendrisio to take the wifey shopping.

What's the route you're taking to Salzburg? I want to do quite an extensive period of driving and planned in Germany. Salzburg is one of my planned destinations.

I haven't really figured out the route...I was just thinking the normal route, and perhaps take a turn off the beaten path (off the Autobahn) as another board member (can't remember if it was a post here or on bimmerfest) had accidentally found a wonderful road. I'll see if I can find their post... [edit] here's the link http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=200791

I'll be staying in Berchtesgaden and poking around Salzburg. Not sure if I want to stop by salzburg on my way in as we're leaving the delivery center and heading straight in this direction, or go straight to Berchtesgaden and see Salzburg the next day. so many things to still figure out!
