Stett Performance Intake and Charge Pipe?
I am looking into getting a Stett Performance Intake and Charge Pipe. Does anybody have these installed? What would you recommend? Charge Pipe with or without Blow Off Valve. I could care less about the blow off sound. Is it be required to have BOV?

I wouldnt bother upgrade the charge pipe unless you plan on upgrading the diverter valves or going to BOV.
I would say nearly 50% of people get a charge pipe for methanol injection purposes and the other half get it to upgrade to BOV or DV (cause the stock can potentially leak on high boost). The charge pipe alone offers minimal gains if any. |

I have both.
The CAI is very good, although installing is not easy and the cone takes up a lot of place close to the wheel well. It works very well though, my intake air temperatures are quite low even when driving hard. The CP is very well done too; I got it because of the two bungs for meth injection and in order to avoid the stock CP to come off at high boost applications. Looks good, works perfectly. I run it together with black anodized Forge DVs. Alpina_B3_Lux

Have to agree, unless your doing Meth or BOV.. imo people who upgrade the aftermarket charge pipe tend to have more leak issues than people who retain the stock one..I use the stock charge pipe w Forge DVs...17psi of boost and no leak issues..even the stock DVs seem to hold high levels of boost well..

I got the Stett CAI recently; the more I drive with it, the more I like it. The installation of the most recent version isn't too bad, but it isn't as easy as dropping in a new air filter. The sound is pretty decent when you jump on it, but it certainly isn't obnoxious. The only downside I feel is that it isn't a 30 second job when it comes time to change the filter...it'll be a 10 minute job.
It does get a lot of looks at the track after a session when I've got the hood open on the car. |
