Hi guys, im about to hit 1000 mils on my 335, so the break in is almost done, one thing i'm curious on is if there is an rmp limit on this car or not.

I have tried pushing it a little once i got to 900 miles or so, and it seems the gas shuts off every time i hit 4500 rpm until i change gears. Does this car just not redline or is there some sort of limiter on the rpm till the breakin is complete?

No limiter. Something isn't right if it's not running strong up to redline.

the only limiter you have is the rev limiter which is around 7600 rpms i believe....but if your car is cutting throttle at 4500 RPMS you might have something wrong.

How hot is it where you live, and what time of gas are you using?

if you are WOT and at full boost, if your car senses any type of knock it will cut power or feel like the throttle is closing...

i live in boston, its just starting to get warm. I use highest octane wherever i get gas. no less than 93.


I called BMW service, once guy is asking around and will call me back. He says i should still be able to push it above 4500 RMP.

This car is already fast , i can't imagine how much faster it will be when i get those extra 3000 rmp!!

that is weird if you cant rev passed 4500 RPMS though.... me personally I only put 100 miles or a little less and then drove it like i stole it.

I havnt heard of anyone not being able to rev passed that.

Guys, from my research i they left my car in transport mode! This limits the car to 4500 RMP. i'm bringing it in on monday to update the software. So i have been driving a half ass 335 for 900 miles, and i thought that was fast!

Wow that's rediculous. Maybe it's just me, but I would be talking to my dealer about some sort of compensation for having a crippled car for 900 miles . Glad to hear you figured it out.
