Vinyl on shift knob
Need a sounding board. I have ordered the BMW performance shift for various reasons posted here (http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145464), but want to make it more “wood” like to match my interior.
Do you think I could take the wood vinyl from something like rvinyl.com (http://www.rvinyl.com/Wood-Grain-Vinyl-Film-Walnut.htm) and cover up the side and bottom aluminum bits (not top) to make it match my tan/wood interior? The vinyl is really intended for dashboards and I am not sure it would last the day to day strain of being on a shift knob. Thoughts? |

Depends on the contours of the shifter. If you can get it down smoothly and there are no edges to easily peal up it should do pretty well. I've got all my trim pieces vinyl covered and they are holding up very well.
