Is a Oil catch can worth it??
I have a 335i with: jb4 dci dp intercooler. is it worth getting a catch can? or is it really pointless? I spoke to a few N54 specialist, and they said the OCC is pointless. what is your guys experience with this?? Please help me out!

It is definitely worth to get rid of some oil that elsewhere would be feed into the combustion chambers. Other options are just to have an open ventilation and let the oil drain under the car or in a bottle.

venting to atmosphere will cause excessive crankcase pressure, vacuum is required to keep crankcase pressures in check, so don't vent to air...in terms of catch cans, plenty of info here, pick your poison...i don't run one but may one day when we find one that works without worries

Eventually I will...of the ones I had on the car that were my own (RR an BSH) were found to have flow restrictions with RB turbos....RR was garbage and thrown away, BSH was sold to a member running stock turbos

Look in the pcv saga thread...numbers would go really high with the VTA setup...i'd definitely not run it...i couldn't even measure the crankcase pressure as it was higher than 10 inches of water at WOT with RB turbos and just 14psi...bentley spec has it at up to 2-4 inches of water MAX, obviously stock boost levels...if higher the stock PCV system is considered to be clogged and malfunctioning...now is that to say something is being damaged, probably not....just means that IF you have a stock PCV setup THEN if you have more than 2-4" of water pressure there THEN you've got to fix your PCV system...in the case of VTA, I'm just stating what the measurements were and I personally wouldn't run it...interesting that you ran it for 2 years and no issues...great sample!

Yes, no problems so far and the OCC collects a lot of oil that I'm happy to not route to the intake. The OCC does not collect all oil, some of it is trapped in the breather.

I have 60k miles on my 07 and installed a Helix IC this weekend. I only had maybe 10-15 drops of oil in my IC, I have seen way more than this on other cars but am not convinced I need one yet and am following the not needed crowd at this point.

I catch oil w my BSH OCC and im tuned w/ FBO..stock turbos..Im sure its not catching everything but something is better than nothing..also keep in mind the design of the BSH has the hose angled upwards so blowby that does get vented has a tendency to slide back down the hose and into the crankcase..either way its better than being routed directly to your intake tract
