N55 inconsistant torque vs. boost vs. Proceed (?)
First, my car is a 2011 335i M Sport Coupe with 1,600 miles on it and completely stock powertrain.
The last couple days have been really beautiful here in the mornings. Gerenally in the high 60's and dry. What I'm noticing is that when the car is fully warmed up (oil temp) and I roll on the throttle to wide open, the torque rush will be noticeably different each time. Sometimes it spools instantly and I get great power through 6000rpm or so and other times it feels laggy and underpowered. I don't have any logging tools. All I can say is that these tests were done on the same road, same time of day, same conditions, and no traction problems (my car is stock, does not break the 275's loose in 2nd gear). Is this a function of the stock boost control being over sensitive/flaky? I'm not going to give it a second thought if buying a Proceed will take away the ECU's boost control and make the car more consistant. My father has an '09 335xi with the N54 and his exhibits some of the same symptoms, I'm guessing it's the stock boost control logic but wanted other's insight... Anyone else experience this? |
