Cobb break-in period
Just installed the AP yesterday. I was only able to test it out a few times. It felt like a noticeable increase from stock, but I was curious on the "break-in" for the tune.
Does the ECU/tune have a short learning period? What is the range (ballpark) around? the first 100 miles or so? Next, if I'm thinking of switching to the valet map for my daily commute, would that reset the "learning period" that was building up in the ECU/tune prior to switching away from the 91 map? In other words, for a daily basis, would it be advisable to be in valet mode during commute/heavy traffic, and switch maps for spirited driving afterwards? Don't want to waste all the "learned" data. Any long term pros/cons from using valet on a consistent basis? Thought it would be a good chance to get some more mpg out of the car. Thanks guys! |

There is no learning. It is a flash tune so it just runs the tables within. Drive it like you stole it. I wouldnt bother changing maps.

there is a bit of learning - since the reflash clears all adaptations, the ECU needs to relearn those. I find the tune gets a bit more power and smoothness after a day or two....
I would advise against flashing to valet mode during your commute - just pick a map and keep it there |

changing maps is a myth , once you try it you will never go back.

Its a flash and since it does not manipulate the DME like a piggy does, it takes about 100 miles for the DME to adapt to the new founded power and the driver's syle of driving.
After 100 miles take your car through car wash |

I think that's a myth.....Unless you've done a dyno right after the flash and another one a few days later and show proven gains.....
IMO, it manipulates the DME just like a piggy does, just in a different way.....

after a few WOT runs the car should feel more smoother, i just keep it on the same map for DD, i suggest not going into valet mode cause if you want to pass someone you will not be able to because i think valet cuts power at 3k rpm. you can go to stock map but the mpg isnt that bad with stg1.

uhh i would definitely NOT run valet mode haha. that's for driving around a parking lot at 10 mph, not for daily driving. switch it to map 0 if you must. but i doubt even doing that will result in a meaningful increase in mpg. i was averaging 21 mpg (xi) untuned and with stage 1 i'm averaging 20 mpg. the 1 mpg difference is probably due to the fact that i like to boost it more now that there is the extra power. map switching is for the birds

The ECU can learn and adapt to things like gas or atmospheric conditions. I'd recommend installing the AP and then driving the car how you normally would! That way, it will learn from your driving habits and conditions right from the start.

Let me put it this way. Anything that deviates from the factory form is manipulation, one way or another, no matter how you slice it.......Just my opinion though.
