Burning oil smell. plz help
My warranty expired on the 8th, so I took it in for a final service on the 6th. When I brought it to BMW of Bellevue, there were no problems, just needed oil change. When I got it back yesterday everything seemed fine. Today I was driving around with the heater on, and it filled the cabin with a burning oil smell. I turned off heater and opened windows, smell went away. after turning on heater second time, the same thing happened. I'm freaking out because I just spent all my freaking money on my student loan, and don't wanna pay 1mil dollars for something the dealership obviously screwed up. Do you guys have any idea what it is?

Its possible they may have spilled some oil on the engine thats burning off..if it persists...take it back, they will check it out for free as its part of the initial service..im sure they checked but mention to them oil filter housing gaskets as these tend to go bad

Has your oil level dropped? Check using the left stalk. Are there puddles or drops underneath after overnight parking? If it has dropped, it indicates leak somewhere (filter o-rings or oil housing gaskets etc). You might want to check oil level before driving to the dealer, depending on how far they are located and you can make it there.
