Running staggered 18's on an xi

Posting in here as well as the tire forum as the question is kind of specific to xi's.

I've just recently purchased the OEM 313 style wheels in 18" staggered with sizes 18x8 ET:34 and 18x8.5 ET:37. I'm now trying to decide which tires to mount on them. I like what i've read about the Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires but am unsure on the best size. It's been recommended to me to stay with OEM size which would be 225/40/18 on the fronts and 255/35/18 on the rear.

However, I keep reading how the Continental's are a little on the narrow side so was wondering if I could also do 235/40/18 on the front and 265/35/18 on the rear? My main consideration/question is that I have an xi so wanted to ask, anyone on here running a similar setup or can give me a definitive answer on what size tires would be best with an xi in staggered 18 setup?

Thanks!

You do want to get the most grip you can up front on xi's to help with the characteristic under-steer.

So you're recommending 235/40/18 and 263/35/18 in this case?

265 on 8.5" is out of spec. Reverse stretch = bulge.
