steering wheel trim

Hi all,

My sport (non-M) steering wheel trim is peeling quite badly now in one corner so it's time to replace (out of warranty).

I'm in the UK and it looks as though the e92's get a steering trim with metal strips. Mine is plain black in my e90. The dealer says the only options that come up for my VIN are plain black or plain silver (urgh).

Would the versions I'm seeing in the e92's fit my wheel? They look like the same steering wheels just extra strips of metal on them which looks nice (I assume they're real metal?)

I've attached pics for comparison. Maybe someone is able to shed some light on it for me?
