M-tech kit...

Damn! ...just got rear ended yesterday by a guy who was calling while driving. I was waiting in line for the signal, that guy just hit my rear bumper directly without braking his car. He was even not having finished his call after came out from his car......

The insurrance company would like to give me a $900+ check if there is no extra hidden damage inside. (does anyone think so?)

Long story short. I am now going to go for the M-tech kit, so anyone can share the info of the genuine M-tech kit? I see a lot of vendors in the market, but not sure which one is the best.

$900? seems a little low to replace and repaint an OEM bumper. did you get any quotes from body shops? I think mine was like $1300 and it was way less damage than yours.

I got my complete OEM M-Tech kit including guides & diffuser for almost $700 including tax. Check the price on tischer & ask your dealer to match the price. I choose OEM because I just installed the bumper myself & want to avoid any fitment problem with aftermarkets. I spent $300 for painting, so your check is just about right there for a nice upgrade. Go for the M-Tech kit because it's definitely way better than your stock...

it's true that all insurrance companies are greedy. They recommended me a contracted body shop which is supposed to be able to fix the damage upon that quote......but I am going to try some 3rd-party body shops.

Also you need to realize they won't pay for your "upgrade." So they are estimating for a straight oem base replacement. I'd seek 100 or 200 more and then if you have to pay a little on top consider it a super good deal on getting the upgrade

Buddy with an evo did this when his car got keyed and kicked. They were paying for respraying and replacing the front fenders and rear quarters so he paid the difference and upgraded to Voltex Widebody lol

Wow, that's a very good deal. e92MTECH.com sells $749, but shipping fee sounds way too high ($249). Hope my local dealer can do the price.

Thank you. Yes, i understood that point. The bad thing is that, the insurrance company only gives me an assessment for reconditioning the bumper cover, which means they're not going to replace the bumper

You can tell them yourself you would not want a bondo'ed section on the bumper due to future cracking issues ETC. And that you would want nothing less than an OEM full replacement. It's not up to them. Don't let them take advantage! You have lots of power since you were not at fault.

Here's what you do:

Go find a body shop that gives you a $2500 quote. This isn't as crazy as it sounds: they'll basically charge you to remove everything down to your rear subframe and reassemble it to make sure there is no additional damage.

If your insurance company has an adjuster or specific body shop they force you to get a quote at, make sure you're there with the high quote you got before; show it to them and explain you want exactly the same thorough job done at that shop.

Hopefully you end up with a quote from your insurance company nearly as high as the one you got earlier.

Next comes the bargaining with your insurance company. Don't accept anything until they offer at least 90% liability to the other driver (or whatever won't be recorded as an accident on your policy). Just turn down offers and threaten legal action until you have nearly all of the repair quote and will be certain your premium won't be affected.

Then you can take the resulting cash and go full M-tech.

Well if you already got a quote from the insurance adjuster, the body shop that will be repairing it must go by that quote.

If his insurance is going to pay for it take it to a few different body shops, and make sure you get it quoted to replace the bumper not repair it, then submit that to the other guys insurance company.

Looks familiar!! Same thing happened to myself with less damage and I managed to get an oem 335is rear diffuser and brand new bumper. I did really well for myself and the offender i encountered was also on the phone. Don't settle for the 900 that's a screw job big time!! My damage came to just over 1,400. And yes there could be further damage so be sure to get this done by a well qualified Auto-Body specialist of your choice (it's the Law) Good luck and be smart.

I was quoted by repair shop of 1300 for a new bumper cover, and it was not as severe as yours. That was also assuming there's no hidden damage underneath

Like I said, it's possible to get a $2500 quote without the body shop assuming anything, but checking EVERYTHING.

Go OEM mtech kit trust me!

Also, there shouldn't be much damage. I'm surprised they are giving you that much honestly. Usually they would try to repair it or replace it with aftermarket OEM replica bumpers at best. Enjoy the cheap upgrade to mtech!

OK, just got my car back last week. I ended up with OEM Aero Dynamic kit instead of MTech. I wanted the MTech, but somehow i had difficulty to find the parts and experienced body shop. So i went to Aero kit at last minute.

Total i paid 200+ bucks from my pocket. I think it is not bad.
