When did BMW switch from AW to Mineral White
Hey Guys,
A little bored with my car lately, looking for some information so my car can undergo a face lift ![]() Since my 2009 BMW is alpine white, I need to know if BMW switched to mineral white or not. Will the paint of a 2011 e92 match? If it doesn't, i cant see this project being worthwhile. Might as well go mtech. Need some feedback guys. Also will an oem m3 hood fit a non m3 ![]() ![]() Thanks ![]()

MW appeared in 2011. BMW still has both AW and MW, but they look nothing alike (MW is more pearescent).
Yes the hood "fits" but there will be a huge gap between the fenders and front bumper, you would need to get M3 fenders and a front bumper for a clean look.

Mineral White is really sexy, I would own one, but the Sedan only comes in AW. I agree it is a little girly. But I would rock it.

Instead of doing OEM M3 body parts, check out the M3 replica parts (front, skirts, and rear). The have OEM fit and look nearly identical to the real thing. Hit up Jay@Modproject, he carries the better replical parts.

Rather go oem, and not have to get parts painted.

You know there are 3 shades of alpine white right? It depends on where the car was manufactured. Different areas use different materials to mix the paint.
Some have a blue hue, I think others a pink (or could be yellow) and some pure white. You'll need to make sure the car is manufactured in the same country as yours for a perfect match. |

I forget which letter corresponded to the country of manufacturer but if you google how to decode a vin #, it will tell you. The differences are very slight, but in certain lighting, you can tell more so then in other lighting. To be honest, I don't think I would have noticed if my guy didn't tell me. |
