LED Angel Eyes..?

I helped my friend installed LED angel eyes he ordered from **********s.com. After installing them on his 07 328i, every time he starts the car.. both headlights angel rings would flash together then it would stop. The angel eyes still turns on normal after that. Just wondering why it's doing that? **********s said the bulbs are trying to draw power..?? any suggestions on a fix guys?

I'm pretty sure this is a bulb check. You can get it coded out or deal with it.

BMW isnt gonna do anything for you because you are using aftermarket bulbs. its just the bulb check system as already mentioned. it happens with the regular bulbs too but you cant notice it because halogen bulbs require a lot more power before they light up. LEDs light up with very little power so thats why you see the flashing.

I have the same problem after installing aftermarket bulb for my fogs lights ...
The reason is that it takes to much power ... I've been told that you need a resistor for it ...

hmm okay i think i'll tell my friends to just live with it. does anyone know if he can turn off the DRL and make his angel eyes a DRL? He has an 07 328i sedan. I heard we can just take out the bulb for the DRL but a error code will pop up on the tach..

You can do it through the iDrive, if he has it. Not sure if it can be done without it.

I don't think you can actually code out the bulb check system. I think you just disable the error message from coming up on the dash.

My angel eyes still strobe on start up even with the bulb check disabled on both sides.

OP, LEDs draw less current than halogen bulbs. So the pulse the bulb check system sends to the bulbs is enough current to light up the LEDs.

You can only turn off the DRL via iDrive, but to make the AE as DRL, you'll need a kit for that....I think JLeviSW sells it....

If your friend wants, he can just pick up Mtec V3s and they won't strobe on startup. I have them so I know this for sure lol.

I just installed the Daeos Harness from JLeviSW yesterday. It's a quality product and it works great. No errors or issues. However, I would suggest getting some larger t-taps before you get started--there are a couple wires (the yellow/blue stripe on the passenger headlight harness and the power wire in the ECU) that are WAY too thick for the taps JLeviSW provides. It took some frustration, a little elbow grease, some pliers, and a little "custom" alteration to get them snapped down and connected well. It felt like I was going to completely sever those two wires instead of just tapping them.

okay wait? people are telling me to get the Daeos harness and a few are telling me that it can be done w/ the BC stalk. So it can be done either way, except the Daeos harness will power the AE all the time.

The daeos kit is for people who want to run the angel eyes as drls, like the lci models.

The drls in pre-lci models are the inner, halogen high beams running at reduced power.

So if you want the angel eyes on all the time, like how daytime running lights function, get the daeos kit.

just code out the bulb check.
you can pick and choose which bulbs get checked by the car.
I just had my reverse light bulb removed by getting the car coded, now they dont flash.

btw. the car does bulb checks at random intervals while driving as well, so they are not only blinking during start up but there will be brief random periods where they'll do it while underway as well.

classy huh?

the guys making the replacement bulbs need to be more clear and forward about this information.
