Just did a post break-in oil change. No crush washer from factory?

So I just finished doing an oil change on my 2011 335i with 2k miles. When I removed drain plug, to my surprise, I didn't find a crush washer. It wasn't on the plug or stuck to the pan and I know it's not in the drain pan because it has a screen cover.

WTH?

You joke now, but I wouldn't be surprised

I just did mine yesterday (1700 miles) and noticed that the crush washer on the car was copper-colored, and the OEM filter came with a silver one. Also the oil was darker/blacker than expected, so I guess I'll be doing changes at least every 5000 miles.

Copper is softer therefore crushes and seals better...I honestly dont know why the OP is concerned I picked up a dozen or so for about $4.00

Good call on the oil change interval
