FIY for peeps using WW line tap
I installed Vishnu meth kit about a week ago, and since have found that my WW pump filter was gunked up and the BMW WW pump is leaking.
Below is a pic of my filter. It was flowing ok for the most part, but was fairly difficult to prime and this is why. Second, I was noticing that my consumption seemed high, so when I had the tank pulled I did some tests and noticed the pump was leaking. At first I thought it was the pump grommet, but it's the actual pump. I will be replacing the pump There's a DIY somewhere about cleaning the filter which will also give you enough info on replacing the pump. EDIT: i did purchase my car used so not sure what WW fluid was used, but I used 1 half bottle of this nasty cheap blue, thick fluid that could have done this. FINAL RESULTS: See post #77 Last edited by Joshboody; 10-13-2011 at 01:41 PM.. |

FYI...it's FYI
Thanks for the heads up, something I probably need to clean out since I been running meth out of my wiper tank for nearly 2 years.

Yea mine doesn't prime well either. I plan on cleaning the filter tomorrow. Glad to hear that's the issue. Sometimes I wish shiv used terrys cap method instead of using the BMW lines.

It seems to me that you can do this on your own without too much trouble, if you like.

Here is the link to the DIY.....it's quite good! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=558259 How difficult was yours to prime? My meth gushed out instantly as soon as I bridged the boost switch........wondering if your flow rate was reduced or took a long time to run before flowing? |

Actually I have the log of running dry which really shows the advantage to map switching... I'll post it. |

With the pump leaking did you notice any liquid on the ground beneath the front wheel......or did the meth evaporate away?

EDIT: i did spill some 70/30 mix in the garage some time ago and just left it there curious... it had evaporated by the next day and the garage floor, where puddled, was shinny clean. |

Update: I was still getting a little air in the line from somewhere after replacing the WW pump. So today I ran a new line directly from meth pump to tap in fluid reservoir. I removed the pump, but left it electrically connected just in case a code would be thrown. So no windshield cleaning anymore, but i'm getting more flow... 27 compared to 25. A little over 2000ml/min NOT connected to the nozzles (spraying from the black hose).
Everything seems to be working great now, but before it too a couple days for the air issue to surface. Some may consider a little air minor since it does purge, but I hope NO air 100% of the time is possible. My testing showed that the WW pump reduced flow by about 1/5 to 1/4. |

Seems that my meth flow is not consistent sometimes either. On a good log it will basically be flat across showing values between 30 to 33. On a not so good log it will show irratic dips and be all over the place. Then on the next log it will be fine again. Looks like air disrupting the steady flow to me but I really don't have a lot of experience interpreting the logs. Here is one of the not so good ones: Wonder where the air is entering from (if that's what this really is)? |

My pump is leaking but just going to replace it with a generic one, since I don't use the sprayers anyway. Running a dedicated meth tap to the tank instead.

Ilma, yes my log would look like yours occasionally, but most fairly smooth and then back again after letting the car sit. I'll post my experiences with the new routing after I get some time with it.
Hey, what procede version and maps are you running? Your trims look great! I can't tune my negative trims out. Did you alter the tables at all? You are FBO with stock turbos right. |

I asked Terry awhile back why he didnt tap the ww line. Terry had said that tapping the line we use resulted in a lot of air entering the system. Which im encountering also. I'm going to buy the bms ww cap and line and connect it to the pwm.

Is it normal to have small air bubbles in the line just before the nozzles? |

I tested flow through the cap and running the line to the tank directly showed similar results. But pump definitely and it seemed the ww tap also reduced flow. |
