Unhappy Opportunity is forcing me out of my e92

Here is a perfect case in point of how you can never truly plan out your life. I had been looking for a condo for about 6 months now, but decided I would let it wait till the end of summer seeing as the real estate market in SW Florida has been softening and is still declining (albeit not as rapidly as before). I figured I'd order the 328i, save up throughout the next few months for furniture, upgrades and the like and then find a condo. Well, a week after placing my order, this awesome opportunity pops up and I'm faced with a tough decision. Buy this gorgeous townhome for about $70,000 less than what it's worth or wait and take a chance on something later. I figured better not hesitate and lose out, so I put a deposit down. I can afford to have both, but it will drastically change my lifestyle and not allow me to keep investing the way I have been for the past year and a half. I'm also getting ready to get my Series 7 & 56 licenses, but that will take some time to cultivate enough clients while working full-time at the construction company.

Anyways, to make a long story short, I decided today to pull the plug and let the 328i go It's definitely a HARD decision to make emotionally, due to the fact this is the first car I've ever "had" new and got me this excited. That's not withstanding the fact of me having to endure the past month of waiting anxiously for it to arrive. However, I feel in the long run this decision will pay off many times over and I'll be much better off financially. Could I have kept both? Sure, but why strap myself to a house AND car when I can keep the Z3 and still enjoy a BMW

I know this is a big rant, but I had to get it off my chest. If anyone is looking for a beautiful Montego Blue / Saddle Brown / Dark Burl Walnut with the options listed in my sig, let me know. It's probably due to arrive at the dealership in NJ any day now, as it was on the Patriot which arrived in NY on the 23rd. I wish all of you the best of luck with your new babies - when you're cruising around enjoying your Ultimate Driving Machine, take a nice twisty for me

Def the right call, a house is always a better investment.

The condo will pay off in the long run. You'll have a condo and a nice car if you're patient. I see people living in apartments that drive a Porsche Twin Turbo ($120k+ car). Me, I rather drive a jolopee and have a place I call my own.

Not selling it, it was going to be a lease.

Definitely making the right choice. Its tough now, but It will feel more rewarding that you waited and bought the condo.

And think about it, maybe in a few years you can go out and buy an M3.

+1 to everything everyone else has said

I would definetly rather have a place i can call my own home then a car to get me from point A to B with a few twistys in between.

Man, that has to hurt, probabaly more than a little. Like everyone else said, it was the right decision, but that doesn't make it hurt any less. Expecially when you see your car (or one like it) pass you on the highway....

Never mind, you'll get yours....

Thanks guys for the kind and supportive words. I guess it'll be worth it when I wait and get the 335 instead!

Hey Sal, just wanted to know in which dealer in NJ is your coupe going too? I ordered a Spark/Graph on Saddle Brown E92 328i w/ pp, sp, and auto on April 7th (almost a month) and the wait is killing me already.. I ordered my car from Prestige in Ramsey N.J. and wanted to know if you ordered from the same dealership? Wouldn't mind Mont/saddle, it was my second choice in color. Plus would have to pay alittle bit more because of the CA, Logic7 and Sunshade options you ordered.. plz let me know.. Thanks

House v. car, house should always win. Plenty of people live in expensive homes and drive Accords. Why? Buy for $290 with 6k down (Honda) v. lease for $600 (BMW). A bunch of friends bought condos in FLA as investments and are griping they waited too long to sell (anyone who bought later than late 2k5).

When you need a place to live, no question you should buy unless you plan on moving right away. Investing, well, it can be shown over time (long-run) that stocks beat real estate....good decision though!
