Welcome to... the BATMOBILE.
Lol so first of all, thanks JLeviSW for the cool idea (they did it first on a 135i with a superman logo). I just had to do this on my black/black e90.
Second, sorry for stealing and altering this cool idea, but I was bored and mod bug was itching me to do something different while waiting for my spoiler and grilles to be painted by JBSpeed. Third, I need to figure out a way to coat this to make it last. I used paint for plastic and fear that it will peel eventually. Can someone refer me a clear protective seal to paint over this to make it permanent? Pleaaase. Last... tananananananananananananananana BATMANNNNN. Enjoy Don't hate, lol. I know it is rough around the edges, I'm working on getting it smoother. UPDATE: I RE-DID THE BUTTON BECAUSE BEFORE I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE THE BUTTON CAP OFF SO I USED A PAINT BRUSH INSTEAD OF SPRAYING IT, BUT NOW IT HAS BEEN SANDED OFF AND SPRAY PAINTED FOR A CLEAN FINISH! THE NEW ONE LOOKS SMOOTHER! NOT AS ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES AS THE OLD ONE OH AND MY NEW DASH MASCOT, Lol. FIRST 2 PICS ARE OF OLD BUTTON! ALL THE REST ARE NEW. PAGE 2 HAS MORE OF THE FIRST ATTEMPT WITH MY OLD BUTTON Last edited by DesiRoc; 04-19-2012 at 12:20 AM.. |

Real simple, pop button out after unplugging, sand down the button, create a template of your design that you want. Sand down your button to remove the START STOP ENGINE letters until the button is white. Stick the template over the white button and paint around the template shape. Done.

Yup, but after doing it it I realized it might be better to sand it down and then just get a circular vinyl with the shape pre-cut in the middle and just stick it over the sanded button instead of painting the shape in. The paint is harder to make look clean when the button is seen in daylight. But then again, cutting a circular black vinyl sticker would require you to measure the correct diameter of the button and then also carve the desired shape in the middle of that vinyl circle. More work, but cleaner look imo.
