Question An idea -->Catless downpipes vs. a sniffer

I am just throwing this idea out here to seek [intelligent] feedback.
As you can see it's impossible to past the sniffer emission test with catless downpipes. I also know for sure even if I keep the factory secondary cats, I will still fail the sniffer emission test as long as the catless downpipes are installed.

I am thinking about buying those catless midpipes and welding cats that have similar functions as those of the factory downpipes.
Then I will install the catless downpipes.

I currently have those UR catted downpipes but the cats inside are dislodged already.

Any thought?

The cats would need to be as "good" as the OEM ones or better. Most aftermarket HFCs won't be enough.

I would think that the high flow cats plus the secondary cat would have no problem passing emissions. That sounds like a great idea and it's a lot easier to swap midpipes rather than the downpipes.

Nice idea. Let me know if it works.

Just stick an air freshener in each of your mufflers.

why go through all that trouble?

just heat up your cats A LOT before taking the sniffer test

or just find a place that doesn't bother with the sniffer. i'm sure there are some. here in nyc, i've gone to three different places in my area for inspection, and none of them bothered putting the sniffer in

I posted this question in another thread, sorry to be OT:

So we don't do the sniffer here in Oregon, the DEQ checks the car via OBDII port, and as long as there are no lights or codes thrown by the car, she should pass inspection.

The question is:

I have CL DPs, with the Procede O2 modifier to suppress/delete the SES light, but do I need to leave the Procede on map 0 so their computer can communicate with my car? If so, won't that deactivate the O2 modifier feature on the Procede, therefore making my car throw a SES light?

Do I need a separate O2 SIMS just to pass DEQ?

TIA

+1...HFCs may pass but you would have to get em really hot b4 the test and even still may fail

Question

I have high flow cats on my Ultimate Racing HFC downpipes.
I passed no problem so far. However the dislodged cats inside those Ultimate Racing HFC downpipes make the noises that may signal "a false alarm" regarding the wastegate rattles.
I still don't understand why the midpipe OEM cats alone cannot pass the sniffer emission test.
The next questions will be what kind of HFC do those Ultimate Racing HFC downpipes use?
Perhaps I can weld those cats to my straight midpipes.

They dont get hot enough b/c they are place so far downstream..if you maintain cats in the downpipes u would prolly pass once the car is hot..but then u have the restriction in the worst possible place...

Most aftermarket companies use Magnaflow HFCs..if they tell you they are HJC cats or the like they are lying.,those cats are like $900..

Steps to pass:
  1. Reverse / un-do the harness update on the Procede if you did it or if you have a newer Procede.
  2. Go to the settings and set the O2 modifier to 50%. Turn CANClear off.
  3. Set Procede to Map 0. The O2 modifier will be active even on Map 0.
  4. Drive around for a while to set readiness codes.

Do not expect to be able to pass if your harness is updated and you have CANClear on. This will only suppress the O2 codes. It won't set the readiness codes.

Reasons why I love living Alabama! You can do whatever you want to cars no one cares about a sniffer test. Or anything environmentally friendly really! Haha we just care about speed.

Thanks!

But why would I need to reverse/undo the harness update(I have the older harness, and did the update because I was told it was best, idk why, I spoke to Robert @ Vishnu and he told me to)?

Can't I just set the O2 modifier to 50%? Basically skipping step 1 of the process above and do 2, 3, and 4.......

TIA

1. Make them easily bolt-on bolt-off in the midpipes close to the DPs.
2. When going for the sniffer, bolt-on good quality cats, not any "high flow sport" stuff.
3. Heat the cats by driving like a maniac for 10mins before the sniffer.
4. Bolt-off the cats and replace by straight pipe
