Let the flaming begin!

Let's see who's the first to do this mod on e90/e92:

Actually, I was hoping that this was an early April story

The supposed big rage for '14 is a cabin fed by your choice of Neil Diamond or William Shatner.

My friend and I were talking about this at work. The outcome we think will be a bunch of f10 m5 owners will crazy loud exhausts and still can't hear the engines because their cabin is way too quiet.

A good mod for us diesel owners! Of course so long as I can opt to pump the M5 engine sound into my cabin.

I'm excited about the new F10 M5, but I feel this Active Sound design is a let down from BMW and a cheapening of the ///M brand.

Also it feels kind of strange for me having a V10 and potentially "downgrading" to a V8. My M5 is still relatively new to me, so I plan on keeping it for a while. But ill probably eventually get the new M5 despite the fact.

I wouldn't call it downgrading. The newer motors will continue to produce bigger numbers than their predecessors while getting more fuel efficient. I'm sure 15 mpg beats 9 mpg anyday

Yes I agree, the F10 will certainly be more powerful. But I will miss the thrill of the V10 and intoxicating sound it makes.

I wonder how bad the lag will be in the F10 and what troubles await in its engine design. The E60 had VANOS, oil cooler, etc issues to name a few.

on second thought, maybe i'll just get a e92 M3. M3s appear to be the more reliable of all the M cars since they set the benchmark and appear to have time tested engineering methods...lol

I'm optimistic that the next gen turbo US engine will have a lot of the kinks worked out from the n54. With the new turbo setup, i would think lag is all but eliminated; when working properly, my n54 was very responsive with no lag.

i agree with you because if you want to chip it or whatever you want to do with the f10 v8s you can do the same with the s85 motor and it is prob cheaper to keep the e60 and supercharging it then selling it and purchasing the new f10. Aswell, supercharging and tuning properly the s85 motor will make much more power then a fully modded f10 m5 before a turbo upgrade of course or maybe not. This is why i always wanted an e60 m5 because supercharging it or making a custom twin turbo kit will easily put down 1000rwhp, but im sure its really expensive so idk, and the maintance is prob going to be a b**ch.

Agreed. But bigger would be better j/k. I'm on the fence about an e92 m3 and e92 335i n54. At the moment, my car could possibly kill an m3 from a dig... Wouldn't know for sure because people know I don't race...I just keep up. Numbers wise, my current numbers are better. But the m3 is just such a awesome car in the bends, where I have more fun.

That being said, I know the f10 m5 is gonna be my daddy car. Wife and kids tbd, but car is set.

Take your car to the track, dragstrip at MIR or Track at Summit Point. It would be legal then

I don't think it works that way. It's more like the prius' fake engine noise so the blind can hear them coming.
