Weird opaque spots on my 2011 jet black 328i
Hey guys,
new to the forums, so I thought this would be the best place to put this. I've had these weird spots for a while on my car. I thought maybe someone here could shed some light as to the nature of these opaque spots. I looked at another black bmw on my block, likely one from ~2006, and it has the same spots. thanks! ![]() |

Most likely etched-in bird shits. If it is, no way to correct it at this point, clear coat is burned through

It's much smaller than it looks. Those are very blown up pictures. Also, I have seen etching of bird guano and it looks nothing like that. If you can't tell, the spots are brown/rust colored and get less opaque as the spot radiates out. There are lots of little spots too, but those are the easiest to see/capture on camera.

to me it looks like you or something dripped some kind of liquid there. you can obviously see the big one and few smaller ones around it. but is it eating through the paint...? kind of seems like you can see rust.

There isn't any liquid, as far as I can tell. It's all over the car, mostly on the trunk lid though. As I mentioned, I looked at another car on my block who has similar markings. I also posted on autogeek and someone said that it could be interior rust. It feels smooth going over it, even ran a clay bar over the area to no effect.
