Unhappy w/Cobb tune...
I previously had BMS DCI & JB+ @ 75% on the car. Ran 13.3 @ 105 MPH in 80*+ temps & 74% humidity @ sea level.
Ran the car again today w/BMS DCI & Cobb v301 stage 1 map. 13.3 @ 107 MPH in 54% humidity with much cooler temps. Not happy that I only gained 2 MPH for almost $800 spent on the AP. This isn't a Cobb tune vs [insert other tune here] thread. This isn't a Cobb sucks thread. I am simply stating the facts & hoping to get some answers from Cobb and/or the forum. This is an N54 335xi. I do not have any logs of the runs. |

I don't get it... you're unhappy because your new tune didn't get as good numbers on the drag strip? I have had the JB+ and can tell you COBB Stage 1 is leaps and bounds better. Even if your numbers didn't improve...

Mine is 335xi 6 sp manual, and has only cobb ap with no other mods.
I've got 60'=1.9 and 0-60=4.009,1/4=12.789 in very hot days So there are two reasons why op got that numbers 1. Bad driver 2. smth wrong with the car Last edited by bmwm3redblack; 10-01-2011 at 02:38 PM.. |

Same track? Which stage 1 map? Time slip?
Either you are doing something wrong or your car is busted. If there is a problem I'm sure if you threw back on the JB+ you wouldn't even hit those times. Everyone who hits the strip should be logging. There is no reason not to with the COBB! Alan

Go to dragtimes and use their hp calculator. 2mph gain is pretty significant. Your launch sucked with the Cobb, you gained 2mph and had the same time. Cooler temps means it's harder to get traction.
Additionally, the jb+ does nothing for fueling or timing. You're MUCH safer with the cobb. You're running richer and less timing and making more power with no codes whatsoever. Should you choose to learn and continue to mod, the ap will support that. |

Look through the dragtimes list and you'll see that 13.3 is probably the average ET for a stock car, hell there are a couple stock cars on run flats running 13 flats, cobb only cars are running around 12.6-12.7 with a good launch and driver. And you dont need a 1/4 run to tell you that the cobb(or any real tune) is MUCH faster than a JB+, OP probably has it set to map 0 or something lol

Regarding all the clowns chiming in w/their bad driving. Troll another thread. The car is an auto xi. I have done everything everyone else says they do to get these 1.7 60's. No matter what I tach it up to, the car feels like it's on a delay out of the hole. It did this crap before Cobb too. So it's not the driver mod that is needed. |
