from COBB v301 back down to v203?

has anyone who installed Cobbs latest v301 aggressive stage 1 maps went back to 203?

Ive tried 301 aggressive linear, then standard, then the V1 but felt like my car was actually feeling slower.

Went back and reflashed to the older 203 and my car suddenly has that instant power sensation that I've grown accustomed to from when I first got the accessport.

anyone else actually prefer the 203 maps? is there a reason why 203 aggressive actually feels more aggressive than the the 301 aggressive maps?

Yep, i have done the exact same thing. Ive tried all variations of v301 and NONE of them feel as good as v203(they all feel like linear.) Ive verified this with 3 seperate passengers and by allowing my best friend to drive the car himself. They're not as fast in the low range, mid range or top end. I hope cobb is able to fix this problem, this is honestly a HUGE dissapointment if stage 2 is like this

No. I had all kinds of issues with 2.03, codes being thrown, jerky acceleration, etc. For me, 2.03 made me want to sell the AP...3.01 made me change my mind.

For some reason I feel the 203 maps are more aggressive for street racing. I don't really like 203 aggressive for daily driving. 301 maps work a lot better for me in traffic.

In my opinion something that is named "aggressive", should be just that- aggressive. If I wanted something that was more comfortable for daily driving I would choose the more relaxed maps that they offer.

IMHO, "aggressive maps" have more to do with the tune than the feel, maybe a rename is in order. Just my personal opinion, but I don't care for the "on/off" feel of the throttle on the old maps. It's probably because I do take my car to the track and autox, which makes me like modulating and controlling the feel of the throttle better. I do see how people would like that on/off feel on the streets as it just slams you into your seat. Watching the DSC light up while shifting through the gears reminds you that your car is responding to the tune. Different strokes for different driving styles.

From what I've read the 'aggessive maps' just denotes the need for 93 octane.

This is the same trick some tuners use to make you feel your getting more power. 80% power at 30% throttle.

Dingdongs, your not making more power just getting the delivery sooner.

The car IS faster on v203, its not just a mental thing. I've confirmed this with my buddys FBO evo x, on 203 I can pull out 1/2 a length but on 301 its barely a bumper. The difference isn't night and day, but it is noticeable enough to make me never run v301.

Maybe, maybe not. There are too many variable at play in your example.

I did what i could to eliminate the variables, just so I could prove to myself it wasn't just a "feeling": 3 pulls on each map in 2nd gear from 35mph to roughly 70mph(top of second gear.) We gave it 45min after switching maps to let the cars cool to eliminate heat soak. I know its not a perfect test, but it was consistant enough for me to be "relatively" sure of the results. I'm going to do some logging this weekend to see if there is a difference there.

I'd be very interested in the logs, please post the results.

I'm almost certain that its the instant "kick" that the 203 map has that is the difference, it seems that the kick is what put me out ahead and just slowly started inching away after that. After I do the logs I'm going to try and send them to someone to run them through the virtual dyno sim

I was thinking the same thing. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who felt the new maps were a little too soft.

Have you tried the 301 aggressive "stock" map?

The aggressive maps are for 93 octane fuel. Higher octane allows you to advance the timing further a.k.a. more "aggressive" timing. That's what is meant by aggressive maps.

Also, the throttle is all linear in all new maps. I tried both the Aggressive and the Sport maps. I will use Sport maps for AutoX events and track events (not drag strip) and I use Aggressive for street driving.

Also, do not forget that the latest Stage 2 maps are still BETA maps. If you are not happy with the BETA maps, just run the latest stable Stage 1 maps.

Final word of advise: I think it is always a good idea to uninstall and reinstall the COBB tune from your car every time there is a firmware update, even though Cobb are saying there is no need for that. I've had weird ass issues (like the blower fan randomly turning on) with the tune when changing maps which ended up resolving by uninstalling and reinstalling the tune off my car.

+1. I've had similar issues.

Also, I've seen different throttle responses for 301, "linear" and "stock", for each of the maps.

There is no such thing as 3.01 aggressive "stock". Do you mean Stage 2 "Drive" map?

No, if you go to Cobb Tuning and look at the various calibrations, you'll see there are 2 throttle choices for each map. (Stock and Linear throttle)

I think what may be happening is that when people download the new firmware, only the Linear throttle maps go to your AP. I actually went to the Cobb Tuning website, went to my ROM, and downloaded both throttle maps for each mode.
