Failed 3 times at DEQ with no sniffer test....

So I would like some input on this....

I have FBO catless E90 335. Running Procede V5 rev2 board, with the O2 harness update (some say that I need to reverse this process in order to pass, is this true?).

I put the Procede to map 0 and drove for about 30 miles. Temp was at 235-240 degrees. Was driving at a maximum speed of 60 mph, total ranging from 35-60 mph.

Went to DEQ twice last week, failed. Once just earlier today, failed. Called Vishnu last week, and was told to do the above, so I did, and failed.

Is there some trick to it? I know it's possible to pass the DEQ with no sniffer, being that I'm full catless......What else do I need to do?

Vishnu please chime in. I just tried calling and got the machine. I would like to know ASAP as my tags expire the end of this month. I don't plan on putting my OEM DPs and exhaust back just for the DEQ. Remember, we don't have sniffer test here.....

TIA

i hope you know that is a felony (insurance fraud, for starters), seeing as you permanently reside in NY.

Get an OBDII scanner and check the Readiness codes. This is most likely the reason for the failure; they all have not completed. The first step is to know the reason and then change as required. I suspect you will need to put the stock DP's back on.

UHHHH..who told you I permanently reside in NY??..

I commute for my work and split my time between Florida and NY..I own properties in both states..so trying to make an argument for a felony is a stretch..no?

actually you are wrong. i split my time between FL and CO and all of my cars are registered in their respective states. if the insurance company, or state finds out that you are registering your vehicles in other states, you could be charged.

why? lets see...

tax reasons.

when you choose to register your vehicle in another state than its used in, the law abiding tax payer is the victim.

sorry to go OT. tibra, karma is a bitch.

carry on!

I have the printout from DEQ.

The three things that's keeping me from passing:

Catalyst: Unready

Evap: Unready

O2 Sensor: Unready

I was told by Robert and another person(not Shiv) from Vishnu when I called last week, that I should be able to pass with the current setup, as long as there was no sniffer. With the sniffer test, yes, I agree I would have to put my OEM DPs back, but that's not the case in Oregon.

Yes, you have to reverse the harness update to pass. The harness update removes the o2 simulator (o2 modifier function). You will not pass an odbII test with no o2 simulator when catless.

Canclear, which you have on, keeps the dash light off by not allowing the system to be ready which is reflected in your test.

You would need to reverse the harness update, set the o2 modifier setting to somewhere near 50 or 60, and turn canclear off. Then drive for a week or so until the system is ready, so you can pass.

The minute you go catless, all bets are off with respect to emissions. If you just want to achieve cat/o2 readiness at any given time, you will need to install the o2 modifier wires and adjust your o2 modifier value accordingly. It also helps if you turn off CANclear. Achieving readiness requires some driving. Usually 15-20min of highway driving is enough.

This does not change the fact that your catless car will have no chance in hell in passing an actual tailpipe sniff test. So achieving system readiness is usually only half the battle. Unless you happen to live in a state that doesn't even sniff the tailpipe during emissions tests. Why one could call such a test an emissions test is beyond me. But hey, some states are silly.

Seriously though, the only tried and true way to pass a FULL emissions test (tailpipe+system readiness check) is to run factory cats.

That looks like CAN Clear is still on (by way of the EVAP not setting). Turn that off and try changing the harness to add the O2 sim back in.

Or, just pull the PROcede and install the stock DP's and you will pass after the readiness sets.

well then maybe you shouldn't make it seem like you are evading taxes or taking advantage of florida's extremely soft market. your other post made it seem like registering your cars in other states is "cool"

why dont i register all my cars in CO, since my sales tax is half that in FL.

Ya, we don't require the sniffer test on newer cars, only OBDII port testing. So I still need to turn the CANclear option off even on Map 0? I thought Map 0 bypasses the Procede, therefore also bypassing all features offered on the Procede, no?

Okay, So put it on Map 0, turn CANclear 'OFF', and drive around for 20 min or so on the highway and I should pass, right? Is there anything else that I need to be aware of?

I don't plan on putting the cats back on my car (OEM DPs and exhaust). So that's out of the question.....

TIA

I posted this in another thread:

Steps to pass:
  1. Reverse / un-do the harness update on the Procede if you did it or if you have a newer Procede.
  2. Go to the settings and set the O2 modifier to 50%. Turn CANClear off.
  3. Set Procede to Map 0. The O2 modifier will be active even on Map 0.
  4. Drive around for a while to set readiness codes.

Do not expect to be able to pass if your harness is updated and you have CANClear on. This will only suppress the O2 codes. It won't set the readiness codes.

This. You must be able to check for readiness before going in and I still dont know if it will work.

Thanks guys! So after reversing the harness update, would it be okay (performance wise) to leave it that way?

What's the point in the harness update anyway, I'm still not clear to this day.....I was just told by Robert from Vishnu to do that, and I did......

TIA
