No Run-Flats? What to do in case of flat/blowout?
I tried a search -- as i assumed this topic would be greatly covered... but most of my findings were on... i got a flat (RFT), can i fix, etc?
Anyway, I have a set of Non-RFT Goodyear GSD3's... and am a little bit nervous to drive with them... I don't want to carry around a full-sized spare in the trunk -- so that's not an option. My RX8 (when i had it) came with emergency tire sealant (injected through the tire valve) and air pump... However, i'm not sure on the efficacy and durability of such products... So, given that: 1. What should I do if i'm running Non-RFT's? 2. How long (miles) can i drive on a flat on Goodyear F1 GSD3's -- They are 19" tires... 3. Most practical/safe suggestion? |

OMG dood! Hit up search 101 for some tips!
The only option aside from a spare is the tire sealant repair kits. I have the M-Mobility kit Danny

sorry about that guys... seems like M Mobility is the way to go -- but it's expensive... this seems good too http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/pw/airman.htm and why not just get a spare? http://leatherz.com/Merchant2/mercha...tegory_Code=Z4 |

I have an unused leatherz spare for 335i with the necessay spacer to clear the front brakes. It comes with the vinyl cover and is very thin.I would be willing to sell for 10% less than I bought it.I got it 2 weeks ago.brand new.You can order the really cool extended jack kit from leatherz then your all set.

I have AAA insurance and i get free towing anywhere for 100miles. And if i want to go somewhere farther then the 100miles, ill just bring 1 stock rim in the trunk along with some tools.

Unfortunately, if you have the direct TPMS (all E92's and > March production E90's) you can't use these kits to seal and inflate the tires.
This is from the TireRack website on the Continental kit: Quote:

I know plenty of people who plan to use the Mobility kit + sealant and are aware that it might destroy their TPMS sensor. I guess they are okay with spending the 70 bucks it costs to replace the sensor rather than having a spare floating around in the trunk.

so i take it you bought new 17/18" rims (depending on what packages you bought)... if i were gonna get new rims, I'd get at least 19"s so that wouldn't really work for me

I live dangerously.
Chicks dig that sorta shit. Seriously...if the M Mobility Kit is too expensive there are alternatives. TireRack carries the kit by Continental. Canadian Tire (up here in Canada...duh) sells the Airman which is made by Dunlop. I'm sure Wallmart or Pepboys down in the US carry something similar. |

If I called the AAA roadside service wouldn't they bring me an extra tire?

A cell phone + friends who you can depend on.
For long trips, I just throw a spare in the trunk or back seat if possible. I should really get around to getting a fix-a-flat can though, just in case. |
