New CSL CF Trunk - Crack/Defect

I bought this trunk off of a member. Came from greyhound like this. What are my options here folks?

Was this item damaged before shipment, and does it look like it was damaged during shipment. Did you purchase insurance when you shipped this? Contact the seller is the best way to start. If its a factory defect then contact the the factory.

I wasn't informed of any defects. I asked for pics before shipping but I never received them. I sent the seller an email. Don't think im going to get support from the dealer. Original buyer bought it almost a year ago and said it was sitting in his garage the whole time. It is from JBSpeed.

I am wondering if it is repairable or not.

if you planned on leaving that CF strip exposed like most people do they you screwed but if you want the whole thing painter then its probably repairable

I was going to leave the whole thing exposed and wrap my car in matte black. In the interim I was going to wrap it Silver Carbon Fiber.

Is the clear messed up? Or just the fibers underneath?

If it's just the fibers underneath, the seller screwed you. There was a reason it was just sitting for a year....

Looks like just the clear coat.... As long as the weave is not damaged it can be repaired... I've fixed several that looked just like that..

It looks like it's dented. How did you fix them?

If it's re-clear coated (suggest taking it to a reputable paint shop), you probably won't notice the slight misalignment in the CF weave without looking closely. It won't be perfect, but it should be OK.

that sucks.

File for insurance with Greyhound. It will never be the same as new.

It looks like the resin is chipped as well, which a simple clear coat will not fix. It will be major work unless you want to paint the whole thing... but then what's the point of getting CF.

This is why you ship UPS, gl if you go with the insurance route because I just read that greyhound insurance doesn't always payout.
