CAI and Rain: Help needed

So last night coming home from a party the storm from hell rolled in and completely flooded the roads. I had to traverse some pretty flooded streets and I'm kinda freaked that I may of sucked in some water. Any way to know if I'm ok? Do I need an oil change or anything?

Update: AP fault codes

P29D1 - misfire cylinder 5
P29D6 - misfire low fuel

Any ideas? My car seems to be acting like it did when my spark plugs went out. Under full boost I get misfires.

TIA

Unless you were sitting in a puddle that went over your headlights your fine, your car would be missing or having serious problems if you took too much water in, you are more than likely fine but if you really want to play it safe check your filter and clean it, but if your engine hasnt grenaded itself or won't start you haven't taken too much water

Your engine is fine with takin in some water as long as it doesn't hydrolock. If it's still running. You're fine :thumbsup

Oil change if you want to give yourself some piece of mind, but if the engine was stumbling or anything I wouldn't worry about it. Water has to take a pretty long path to get into the intake manifold on these cars. Much longer trip than a na motor

The water would have had to be halfway up your wheels, into your tail pipes, and been leaking in through the gap between your doors and sideskirts before that filter was completely submerged

You'll be fine. I drove last night too and mine is way lower to the ground than yours. You can always switch to the Dinan intake if you want though.

For future reference just unhook the charge pipe from the TB and stay out of boost. Temporarily only.

Remember on this car if you suck up water it has to go through the turbo's first.

If your car is still working then your fine...ive hydrolocked my old car back in the day and it took like 1.5 sec after going through the puddle before my car shut down on me

I got some misfires on mine when driving through a pretty nasty storm but I also had the inner fender out so the wheel was just throughing water into the pipe. If you didn't experience any problems you should be fine.

If you were to hyrdolock it, trust me you'd know. I it's running you're fine. May want to re oil your filter if it is the oiled kind.

Thanks for all the responses people. The plot thickens.

Update is I went and ran some errands this afternoon and I noticed under high boost (6000 rpm) I got some misfires and threw a limp mode

It drives fine with normal driving. I'm going to see if there are any fault codes on my AP

Ideas?

Just Remove the cold air intake cause the minimal gains It provides are not worth the risk, and headaches involved with water IMO.

Had Dinan CAI on my 540.
Used to suck mere drops of water all the time even through their water proof "bag" cover. Used to ruin my MAF sensors all the time but luckily never hydro locked.
I've had CAI on the past half a dozen cars I've owned without a problem. The driver is the best defense in avoiding a problem.

I've driven through water up to my door sills without a problem. In hindsight the consumer should be aware of the potential risks and weigh the advantage vs disadvantages especially if they are in a troublesome area.

Plugs and injectors?

The codes will likely only tell you it's a misfire

Come over this week. We'll swap your plugs around and see if the misfire follows. Might just be a bad plug.
