PNP map vs Custom Maps?

Quick question.

Ive been surfing over all of these plug and play maps such as COBB, JB4 etc and claims off adding 80bhp etc, yes these may be proven by dyno results but are there any harms to using these PNP maps for your car?

As they auto tune the engine, surely there must be some downsides as a pose to getting a custom map?

Will having a custom map for your car always be better/healthier/increase longevity? even if it means not getting that extra 10 bhp?

Second question: Bit of a noob one some may say, but I see plenty of people combining a PNP map such as JB4 with a custom map?

Can someone be so kind to explain this to me on how it works? As by my thinking the JB4 for instance will programme the ECU, and how can you technically run two maps?

I may be making myself look a fool here but thats what forums are for!

Threads like these are prone to starting tuner wars. If you want, you can PM me and I'll give you my honest opinion of the different options on the market. I've pretty much used them all.

With any tune an off the shelf map can only optimize performance so much. Different cars all around the world with different modifications, gas, elevation, humidity, mileage, ETC All factor into your cars performance.

A custom tune optimizes for the best performance.

I'm sure brey will steer you in a direction you feel comfortable if not I'm a PM away with any questions. we offer all the popular tunes you mentioned and know about all them on a personal level too.
