Advice Sought - Black Alloy Wheels
Hi Guys & Girls,
New member to the forum. Been a BMW owner for many years now and will be taking delivery of my brand new model in 2 weeks. I've gone for the following..... E92 LCI 320d M Sport Auto Alpine White Saddle Brown Leather De-badged It's coming with the standard 18" M Sport Alloys. I would like to get these powder coated black as I love the contrast between white car and black rims. My question is.....Do I get these in Gloss Black or Matt Black? I am really loving the finish on the Matt Black, however the LCI comes with the High Gloss Black Shadow Line as a standard. I'm worried as to whether the Matt Black will work with the Shadow line, or if I should just go for Gloss alloys? Any thoughts, comments, advice would be more than welcome chaps! Thanks Waino PS. The other option would be to go for a dark grey finish!? Decisions, Decisions. |

I'm not convinced about black alloys in the first place, I'd rather have anthracite, but of the two I'd say matt will look better than gloss.

Problem with going black is the tyres will always then look a dirty brown.
I would go anthracite too too like the sport plus models and M3. This was my old M3 with anthracite wheels..... And our E91.... |

Thanks Guys.
Some food for thought there. Perhaps Anthracite is the way to go. Thanks again. |

I've just had my winters refurb'd in gloss black. There are some pics in a another thread. Since the car has gloss black details already, I just don't think matt black would have looked right.
I like Anthracite in pictures but when I see them on the road they just look like normal silver wheels that haven't been cleaned. |

I think the problem with any matte finish is that, even when clean, they'll look like they're covered in brake dust.
Gloss every time - black or anthracite.

If you go black, and you run 452s then as soon as they get kerbed they will look 100% worse than the silver

I love the contrast too. I painted my on gloss black and I am very pleased. I painted grill and mirror covers on gloss black as well. Will wrap the roof. Shall I say what colour for? The car looks great with this little mods.
