Late August ED request - good or bad?

I put in my order for US delivery a week ago - got a production number and was told that it should be in production the 3rd week of June.

I have requested to change my delivery to European Delivery. I dont mind the extra wait, since its a once in a life time experience that my wife and I can do. We are planning to go the last weekend in August. Is that too late for ED? is the factory closed? Is there anything to keep in mind for that time of year?

I know that this way, I would have to wait 2 months longer until I can probably get my car back here in the US, but I wouldnt mind that wait for the free vacation that I would get with the ED pricing.

hmm...most people would say that it's a bad time because many places will be closed in August. That's just something to keep in mind. The factory will stay opened. Im not to sure as to whether it will only be opened the first 2 weeks of August or the entire month because from what I heard, the first 2 weeks of August are pretty booked (this is when the factory will be opened- the rest of the month Im not sure of).

We are actually planning to get the car, take the drive down to northern Italy, head over to Swizterland, and then back to munich to drop it off. All over like 5 days. I just wanted to get the factory tour while I was there too.

Great plan, I did ED and worth it.
Just keep in mind, plan on 4-6 weeks if you are on East coast and 6-8 weeks if you are on West Coast
Factory tour superb!!!!!!!!

I didn't see which car you are planning to order, but if it's a 335 coupe or cab,the ED department has used up their allocation for August delivery, any other car you should be ok except a lot of the pick up dates could be filled. The only other way to get an ED car in August if it was one of these two, would be from your dealers allocation. It's 6 weeks from drop off on redelivery to the east coast or midwest. The factory closes the last two weeks in August, but this has nothing to do with ED pick ups.

Yes, It is a 335i coupe.

So my dealer would have to give ED to me out of thier allocation.. im a little confused about. When I ordered my car, I got a production number - which I think means that I got it out of thier allocation. Now I would like to change my delivery to ED.. so would that still come out of the same allocation?

the dealership faxed the an order form over to the ED department with the specified request date... and now Im just waiting to hear back.

Would the dealership be able to tell me if its out of thier allocation or not?

Thanks for the info

sure,if they gave you a production number the first time, you would know the build date,by you switching to ED,the pn you were given could become your ED car and they can also just start from scratch, and sell your ordered car to someone else and have you choose your date of pick up.

Contact me with any questions........

Few Factory tours left.

You mentioned you wanted a factory tour. You may want to book now if you still can. We are doing ED Aug 30th and could not get an English tour in München on the dates we needed. We signed up for the German tour and I hope they don't speak to fast.

Thats the exact date I requested for ED - Aug 30th.

I have not heard anything back - I might not even get that date.. If I dont get that date, Im not going to do it.. the wait is long enough already
