depo projector headlights not giving full brightness rings help!
i recently swapped out my factory amber headlights with some depo projector headlights and installed 6000k hids. but i've been noticing that theyre not giving a full complete circle as there are 4 bright spots (guessing where the led bulbs are) and in between the spots are dimmer brightness patches. dunno what exactly is the problem but i just want to have a brighter more fuller/complete ring circle thats visible in day without the ugly uneven-ness. any suggestions?? i dont wanna have to spend another 500 to swap housings...
quick shot: notice the 4 bright spots on each ring...

i have the 1st version, the same ones you have but i have halogen bulbs instead of LED like you so my AE rings are more yellow and gross. I plan to do a complete overhaul on my depos and open them, paint everything inside matte black, and add full LED rings with 60 LEDs per ring

if you stick it in the oven @ 200° for about 5 minutes, slide it out and use some gloves to pry it apart... it will still be quite tough, but you wont crack your lens doing it this way. Again, use gloves, it will be very very hot!
As for the before mentioned question, yes. You can insert the 240LED rings as far as i know... it'll be a cut and splice job though. If you're set on LEDs, do the above. If you'd like to go CCFL (Cold cathode flourescent light) they make halo rings in this setup as well. They are very bright, but they require 'warming up' to get to full potential brightness. |
