Autocross Report

Thought I would take a moment to encourage anyone who has considered autocrossing but not actually done so for whatever reason, to take the plunge and head out.

I was quite nervous before my first autocross, but after the first run, I was beyond thrilled and hooked. I have run with both my local chapter of the BMW CCA and the Porsche CA and both groups were fantastic paying special attention to the newbies in the group and offering instructors to ride shotgun.

Autocrossing is particularly fun as driver discipline and precision are paramount and you quickly come to realize and appreciate just what separates a good lap (and driver) from a great lap (and driver).

Below is the course the Porsche club setup and a few action shots of my car from the day.

Nice pics ... I'm definitely interested in doing an autocross. I did a PCA track event about two weeks ago, loved it.

Agreed. If you have ever thought of autocrossing, just do it. Lots of people I talk to think they need to modify your cars first. Not at all. thats the beauty of it.

Now if I could just find some larger events in my area. most of the time i'm in 1st gear...

AX is a lot of fun. You can AX any car, and it really helps with driver skills. Nice and safe as well.
