Well, if this thing is on all the time, the a decent radar detector should give ample warning (I'm assuming it judges speed based on radar and not some weird technology I'm not aware of)

i think it said it measures speed from how long it takes you to get from a to b.

... fuck this. Please explain to me why they would spend money on this technology if it wasn't simply to increase the amount of money they would make from ticketing drivers. If it was so fucking important to keep people from speeding they would simply govern all automobiles at the maximum federal/state mandated speed limits.

^that.

why produce cars that go past the speed limit and then punish people that do?

I am sure they can position the camera to watch vehicles drive away from the camera.

Maybe, But they couldnt prove it is me in doing so, just my car. So it would be much easier to fight, and win.

+1

they need to catch both front/rear license plate if it's a cam ticket. at least that's how red light tickets work in CA.

In Germany, the cameras are capable of taking multiple pictures, front, back, and zoomed in on your face.

They can catch you.

AZ speed cameras just took a pic of your face and rear plate - AZ has no front plate requirement, so it's possible to do without getting a front and rear plate.

in california the camera's i have seen generally are focused for the intersection or for a right turn (ie "no R turn on red light"). for intersection cameras, if you they go off... they all go off and capture all sides of the car.

i've actually had one of those cameras go off once but never received a ticket. i think it had to do with it raining, making it hard to see a face from the tinted side windows and from my visor being down from the front windshield

Since when have driving laws ACTUALLY been about public safety? It's all revenue generating mechanisms passed under the guise of "safety."

Some of the most dangerous drivers are not speeding. They are just not concentrated on driving, are preoccupied, or are oblivious to their surroundings (an extension of not concentrating).

They may also be checking for seatbelt use. Not speeding + seatbelt on = no ticket

probably had more to do with catching the license plate clearly on both front/back than not catching your mug.
