Help wih JB4 logs
I did some logs at the pod on Sunday, opened them up and thought great, look at all of those stats, but I have no idea what they mean.
I went to the N54 tech site and found these explanations, but still have no idea. I wonder if somebody could explain the following in laymens terms? Thanks Target = Pre-Boost setpoint in PSI.... the requested Pre-boost value the JB4 is currently requesting. Pre-boost = Boost pressure prior to the throttle valve... measured by the TMAP sensor. PWM = The additional signal, in percent, that the JB4 is applying to the boost solenoids. This is in addition to the signal applied by the DME (ECU). ECU PSI = the JB4 generated signal output that the ECU reads as pre-boost... to keep the ECU "happy". On map 0 the ECU PSI = Pre-boost = actual TMAP output. DME BT = ECU generated boost target (setpoint) in PSI. .... the requested Pre-boost value the ECU is currently requesting. Also ignadv, dutycycle. |

I'll try my best but I'm still not 100% on it myself:
Target - The boost that the JB4 is requesting Pre-boost - The boost pressure that is measured PWM - This is the amount of extra work that the solenoids controlling the turbos have to do to acheive the target boost. ECU Psi - To prevent the ECU creating error codes for high boost levels, the JB4 tells the ECU that the boost is lower than it is. DME BT - Not 100% but I think it is the target boost that the ECU wants before it is modified by the JB4 Ignadv measures the timing of the engine as recording in cylinder 1 I think. As far as you are concerned you don't wan't timing drops towards the x axis on your graph. This is my understanding of it but anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong. |

Not sure if this is telling me anything? I did notice that when I first put the JB4 in, the engine felt a little lumpy (slight missing) and a bit of lag on map 1, then it settled after a while and after a month or so was pretty awesome, with no lag at all. I've had it out for a month and now put in back and it's the same again. Do you think the car adapts after a while? |

Plonk it on map5 and forget it.
Its nice and cold out now, fill it with V-Power and rag it for a little bit once warmed up properly. There is more headroom on Map5 than One. So potentially more output and its very safe. I have played with it quite a bit and run a lot of logging. The oem maps and adjustments are very conservative - you'll be fine on 5.
