Will 225/40R-18 fit all around on Style 189s?

So, I bought a set of Blizzak LM-60s from TireRack in 225/40R-18 all the way around (four tires) for my '08 E92 335i with sport package. As far as I could tell this was the recommended set, and I thought the 189s were 8" in the front and 8.5" in the back, but I got to the installer today, and they told me that these tires wouldn't fit, since the rear tires were 10" (currently running 235/255 PS2s). Are the tires 10" wide or are the wheels? I'm perfectly willing to admit I fucked up and eat the price of returning the tires or buying new wheels for them, but I could've sworn that the rear wheels were 8.5x18 and that these tires would fit on my wheels. Am I stupid or is my installer crazy?

Obviously if you have OEM 8.5" wheels they will fit. The rim range is 7.5-9" for that tire.

These fit with no problem.

Whoever told illamint that these were 10" wide is completely wrong.
