Professional Radio (non- nav)
I'm new to the boards but not to the car- I just purchased my 4th straight 328i (a 2011, starting with the first back in '98). The last two had the nav; this one I decided to skip it (since it didn't get much use). Now I need to figure out how to get the standard Professional Radio with bluetooth setup (I have the Premium package), but the Owners Manual doesn't even acknowledge this radio exists- it's all about the Nav.
I realize the Nav has more controls, but the Professional Radio seems to be a bit tricky to me. I've ben able to get it working OK (set stations and paired the bluetooth), but I sure could use more insight. A couple of questions:
Does anyone know of a good resource to help explain the workings of the standard radio? |

As to your second question. Listen to desired hd station by selecting the freq, pressing the "list" button, use the right rotary dial to select the sub channel. Then press and hold the button you wish to have as a preset for it

Also there is a different owners manual for cars with or w/o I drive. There is also a separate Audio supplemental manual. It's scanned and pdf'd somewhere in this site. Use google to find it.

I searched and found a manual for a 2009 non-idrive radio. Good information on the radio itself but nothing on the bluetooth. It solved the radio issue.
Does anyone know if a non-idrive manual was issued recently for the bluetooth? I found a couple of really old ones that don't address the telephone book function. I find it odd that the proper manuals not only don't come with the car but aren't posted on the BMW website either. |

Thanks for all the help.
No luck- my phone pairs fine with the bluetooth, just no names imported with the telephone numbers. The numbers aren't worth anything w/o the names. Perhaps it's a security issue. I'm still surprised BMW doesn't issue a manual for non-idrive radios (bluetooth). I guess us thrifty purchasers are just red-headed step children..... |

I also took ownership of a non-Nav 2011 328i xDrive and had the exact same issue.
Long story short - There are indeed two sets of manuals; one for iDrive and one for 328i's without. Similar to your situation the dealership gave me the wrong set of manuals. Contact your dealership and point out their error; they should have extra sets of manuals laying around and give you a complete new set of manuals (including a separate audio manual as someone pointed out) that you should have received. |
