Clutch Slipping - ADVISE PLEASE
OK -- Currently slipping clutch in 335i (NO ADDS)
. . I have always been easy on this car -- prior owner was not. . . At 57 k I have slipping when agressive accell in 5th gear. . . So if it is down hill from here should I go UUT / ACT or OEM . . Like the Idea of greater clamping force but not the added pedal force. . Do I replace flywheel / TO Bearings / OTHERS . What is the best regardless of price BEST = DAILY DRIVER BEST ![]() |

Upgrade to ACT street clutch good for up to 440 Ftlbs ..its a very good DD driving clutch and gives you the ability to add power down the line w/o fear of slippage.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6910068 http://clutchflywheel.com/act/act_cl...8-HDSD-04-2008 I can tell u at 20K miles full bolt on w my race gas map I get some slippage..the oem clutch cant take the extra torque from me being tuned. |

HOLY CRAP!!!
Dealer wants nearly 2500.00 to replace clutch --- local BMW indy says about 1600.00 & both only want to install OEM.
. . No way I am going to the dealership --- |

Dealer DROP PRICE
Dealer Drops Price
YES -- Original Quote was $1200.00 for Parts - DISK, Plate, Release, Pilot Bearing and Replacement Bolts -- down to $450.00 . That is cheaper than Tischer (I think both are REMF'D Parts) . . They would not lower the labor hours at 10hrs ($109.00 per). . . $1600.00 Out the door --- I really wanted the UUC or ACT but at this price and a 2yr warrranty on parts 1yr Labor --- I just could not pass this up. . . 3 other local INDY's were in the $1600.00 ballpark with only 1yr parts. . . Not planning to run boost mods so should be good for a long time. This car was CPO at 30K --- I want to thank the prior owner for trashing the CLUTCH. . . . Car goes in on the 22nd for R&R. . I am excited about the new clutch and the throwout bearing replacement which should eliminate that anoying jittery sound - I think many clutch owners have experienced. Will report after replacement for the 1% here who are interested. |

Diy For Clutch
Well with CPO - I was a little concerned about "What if I screw somthing UP"
. I have done rotors and pads, basic oil and tranny fluid, even a timining belt change on my prior 1.8T, engine mounts, thermostat, 02 sensor, -- I just did not want to take the risk. I am more of Spark Plug and OIL Change guy & leave the bigger task to dealership --- at least till the end of the CPO cap. If you subract the cost of the parts and the need for a trans jack , alignment tool and jacks I would have to buy -- we are talking about an 800.00 savings and no warranty. . Thinking of DIY on strut replacement this spring. . . |
