335is oil temp? Too hot!!!
Hey guys, I am wondering how much cooler 335is car runs in comparison to 335i with oil cooler. I am thinking with the wider air dam on the 335is the oils cools faster than a standard 3351?
On my 335i FBO I am seeing temps in the 230-245 range on average My water temps are in check. On average it's 200-226 nothing higher than 226 I'm running GIAC stage 2 Share your thoughts Last edited by BMWnation; 11-07-2011 at 11:18 PM.. |

I comes with a separate radiator for coolant, not oil. Same OC setup as other cars, but the aux radiator and higher wattage cooling fan aid in the cooling.

SO whats this ? I am unable to find this part in current online schematics. All the lines seems to run with the oil cooling lines. I might be wrong, but I would like someone to please identify this part ? The pic shows a Radiator then condenser then another cooling unit with cooling fins with two pipes running through the cooling fins going to the main OC

You "is" guys chime in. I am thinking about getting the PPK since its on sale but not sure if it will aid in cooling. I have a Pre LCI. I am thinking about removing my fogs light and using the 335is air duct.
The is air duct will fit perfectly up aginst the oil cooler but I need to fabricate a the frontal piece with some sort of mesh beacuse the is one will not work on Pre LCI MTECH bumper |

Btw I have personal driven a 07 E90 335i with JB3 w/o OC for 2 WOT runs and the temps hit 260. Saw this with my own eyes and advised my friend he better get an OC on his car. |

Looks like I was wrong, but I like your idea though. I still have my Dinan OC but I will have to have it custom installed like I did the FMIC, and that going to cost mo money

Buraq - If you decide to sell that Dinan OC, PM me and let's talk. I've got a friend who will help me do the install for free (ok, a couple cold brewskis)...

As for your 335is stock setup, its pretty much a guarantee to hit 280+F at the track during the summer. The 1M has the same oil + water coolers, and ducts, and the guys have seen 285 after 2-3 hard laps. |

The car will run the same oil temp as a standard sport model. There is oil temp thermostat in the oil filter housing.

230-245 is normal operating temp. My 335i has never exceeded 250 even after long 100 MPH pulls back to back (which would induce a lot more heat then a single drag strip run).
Only those experiencing road course track day limp modes from over-heating should consider upgrades. Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 11-09-2011 at 12:52 PM.. |

335is comes with a seperate oil cooler, it is under the wheel and not bumper.
Old thread but in case someone comes across it like I did, yes the 335is has a seperate oil cooler under the wheel well which is why BMW didn't put fog lights on the 335is.
In realoem its listed under the radiator section for some odd reason: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...75&hg=17&fg=05 |
