My V1 Vs. Passport 8500
Keeping it to point and short here is my quick review...
V1: Pros: The V1 system is simply great. Easy volumene control and the arrows is a great "eye catcher" making it easier to feel a sense of relief and safety knowing where the radar is comming from. The radar strenght being a line of red dots is also very easy to read. Overall v1 is very easy to read and understand. Cons: Sometimes the radar will go off at simple things such as a radio lol. although it does not bother me it can become a neucense when it is going off like crazy. only happend twice though over a week time so whatever on that one. Usage: very easy straight from the box. no setup required or anything. remove from box attatch suction cups, attatch hanger on the v1 system, and post the v1 on your winshield. plug in the power and ready to go. there is an optional hardwire to the fuse box for those of you who like the clean look or whatever. Overall: simply the best radar i have used. from the ready to go from box to ease of use. i mean it can't get easier then this. this system is very accurate, easy to read, and the arrows make life sooo much easier. Passport 8500: Pros: also a very neat detector. smaller then the v1 with 1 strip of display and minus the arrows. ready setup from the box and is also ready to go. basically this is just a basic radar detector. just attatch and read the strip when it beaps. Cons: nothing special here and is not as eye catching as the v1 and its bright red lights. the strip being small it does become a neucense to keep turning your head to read the strip and signal strength. no malfunctions though on this one suich as the awkward random beeping. Overall: also a great radar detector but the functionality and ease of reading it is def hands down to v1. simply v1 is a great system and the arrows and red dots make it visually soo much easier to read. yes it is a big bigger but it is def worth it. BOTTOM LINE: the v1 is the best choice. although can't go wrong with either i would def recommend the v1. from the no setup needed to the ease of reading the detector. THE BEST no other words lol |

The 9500I uses GPS so you can tell it to "ignore" those junk signals at any given location from that point on. IF there is really a cop there it will alarm on any different frequency except the one you selected. Nice feature...

Laser detectors are worthless... Coming from someone who runs laser, your detctors can pick up the laser, but only when I pull the trigger (your reaction time is a bit slower than the laser). By the time I pull the trigger I get my speed reading leaving you no time to slow down. The only way they help is by telling you not to speed up after I have already obtained your speed.
Laser blockers on the other hand... One of the cops I worked with had his buddy come out one night with his A4 which had a laser blocker installed into the front bumper. This system worked I could not get a reading on the car until he flipped a switch deactivating the system. The system had a detector as well so he knew when we were hitting him with the laser, slowed down to the speed limit then deactivated it so we got a reading of the speed limit... Food for thought |

are u serious? eye catching? you should be watching the road not the detector. the screen is tilted toward the driver so theres no way u have to move your head. u must have installed in a weird/wrong place.

just to be warned, be cautious when using that feature. When you tell the 9500i to ignore a warning at a particular location, it will ignore the whole band. So say at some exit, there is a 7-11 door setting off K-band 4300mhz, you will set the 9500i to ignore it next time around, it will ignore the whole K-Band at that location. So next time there is a cop with a k-band radar at 6300mhz, the 9500i will not pick it up because it ignore the whole band and you are fucked. just be careful.

Custom program your V1 to filter out those random pings... like LED taillights and so forth.

It is still legal to block laser guns. There is no law that prohibits you from blocking light I have V1 and a Laser Jammer installed on my car and it is the best thing I ever did to my car.
I even placed one laser jammer in the back of the car, because some cops will shoot you from behind... love the V1 and its arrows, but they need to step up a little and offer an upgrade
